No, its not. The typical age is 14-15. You said you had a kid that was 12 years old when they entered high school. That is not true. Its not even a discussion.

My kid turned 13 the summer before he entered high school. He was always the youngest in his class. So was my daughter. All of the kids went to Catholic schools.

And the typical age is 13-14 for entering high school. Check your facts.

See this is where I just don't understand what your argument is all about. Yeah, I had a pretty good idea of basic concepts of baseball when I started playing because I had a father who taught me, but we know that is not the case for all kids. It would seem, especially given your background, that you're punishing the younger kids by not coaching them simply because you don't like the concept of everyone having to participate.

You just are mixing up different points. I have nowhere said that I didn't "like" the concept of everyone having to participate. Never said it. And I do believe that little guys should have every right to play as much as they can. And if parents like to do this with the little ones, then go for it. It is just not for me because I do not enjoy babysitting someone else's kids.

The "participation" rule I do not really have a problem with neither other than it was a pain in the ass for coaches to do unless they put someone in charge of it that was willing to do it. I had the team mom do it a couple or years and that helped but you still had to figure out who you needed to take out in order to fulfill the innings played requirement all while trying to WIN THE GAME. Yeah..... win the game. We had 13 to 14 kids on a team and when they all showed up it got very difficult to keep track of it all. Like I said......"it was a pain in the ass".

So you lied about your 12 year old entering HS. Got it.

Although you don't say how old your kid was when he entered high school (the summer before...LOL), lets assume your kid was 13 years old. You go on to say that he was the youngest in his class. You then conclude that its "typical" for a 13 year old to enter high school. Huh?

Again, its not even a discussion. You were lying about your 12 year old entering high school. The typical freshman in high school is 14-15 years old. Its not debatable.

I didn't lie.......Asshole. He turned 13 on July 30th. High school started in two weeks. So sue me for being off a couple of weeks. But once again. you are too fucking insulting for words calling me now a LIAR. **** you. And........ BY the way, I will give you a chance to change your mind about what the average age of kids entering high school is because I do know that it is NOT 14-15 years old. Look it up:(

I was 14 when I entered high school. All of my buddies who were born in the same year as I entered high school at the age of 14.

Benefit of the Doubt: maybe you're just thinking of California.

I would hope my kid's academic and professional future does not go up in smoke the moment he receives a "Participant" ribbon in his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.

Who knew sports were so important? Let me guess, you were the Joe Maddon of Tball, racking up 1000 wins by incredible margins. You did a stint in Vietnam. You coached in college at ASU and Barry Bonds played for you. You would have played MLB yourself had you not gotten injured in the minors. Etc. etc. etc.

Part of this is true. I did serve in Viet Nam. You need to learn how to read as I clearly stated I coached my son until he turned 16 and moved into Legion ball.

But your idiotic insults are duly noted.

Let me throw an interesting wrench in the convo...

Girls on Little League teams... how do you feel?

I was on 3 Little League teams, and the 2nd one had a girl on it who was a relentless troll.... I got quite the cardio chasing her around the field with the other boys.

To my knowledge she was the only girl on any of the 4 teams... 99% of girls played in the softball league down the street.

My oldest played ball with the boys in 4th grade. She was a starter and the only girl on the team. The next year we moved to softball.

Did she not like it, being the only girl?

I imagine it is odd for the girl in that situation, whether they are good at it or not.

The boys didn't like that she was better than many of them. The next year the girls didn't have a problem with her being good. Some parents did.

One of the most fun things with my kids is talking with the three of them when I bring up my opinion that my daughter was a better baseball player than the two boys were. Man.........That really gets shit talking started:)

If they can play at the level of the team or the league, and she wants to be there, there shouldn't be an issue with it.

Never played with or against a girl on a baseball team, but I imagine it's pretty demoralizing for a player/team to see a girl throwing darts up there.

My daughter was good enough to play little league but fast pitch softball out here is a big thing so she played it through high school. As I told my kids, she was the best hitter of the three of them:)

As a side story, my daughter played with the daughter of her fast pitch coach. This girl was a large girl, not fat just big. She was a pitcher and man could she bring it! THe bad part of the story was that her high school team used her up and her arm was ruined. Instead of getting a college scholarship she got nothing. Was a really bad case of bad coaching.
