No

2020 scared owners and we are seeing stupid monkeys flinging poo.

They fling Arbitration poo.

They fling heavy contract poo.

They run away from high price poo.

That is this off-season because monkey owners do not want to eat poo.

sooooo in other words you agree with me then after saying no. You can say they are “acting like monkeys flinging poo” if you wish(though I don’t get your feces fascination), but it’s the reality that owners aren’t spending outside of the Padres so far and most are looking to shed payroll. Thus, the best deal you’re going to get for a 34 year old pitcher today is less than it was a year ago. This is pretty basic and easy to understand really. You don’t have to agree with them doing it, but it’s exactly what’s going on

lol yeah, sure. You’re the same person that if the cubs had kept Yu, would be bitching if/when the cubs were losing next year and not trading Yu away...you’d be complaining, why aren’t they trading him for prospectZ?! You’d be complaining, dey hav 2 trade hum whilst he stihl haz valyu! You just would complain no matter how they handled their aging star pitcher.

in reality, 2020 has changed what aging superstars on big contracts are worth in trade value. This is what Yu could net them, deal with it. You don’t have to like it, but understand that’s really the best haul Yu could net the cubs currently. Nobody is taking on salary outside of the padres so far. This is baseballs reality in 2020
Did you graduate high school? How did you rate on the NCLB reading comprehension scores? It appears you graded poorly.

sure thing buddy. btw, the typing(not reading comprehension) was to imitate what you sound like. Apparently, your ability to comprehend this went waaaaay over your head.

I doubt that he is in the keep Yu bubble. He is in the Yu was worth a better return and Jed settled on a lesser return to facilitate.

For me it is great for 2025. But how about not sucking for a Presidential term to get good. How about putting on your big boy pants and not being scared to fund a winning product.

I get how Tom did it the first time. New owner. Had to rehab the joint. But right now? **** that. He owes it to Chicago to fund a winning product because that is the cost of a ticket at the Box. Not this well we don't know if there will be fans and yes there are oh already did it enjoy your $12 dog and $20 beer. Who is that on 3B? Never mind that drink up.
Yes. Tom does. The Marquee Network apparently is not bringing in the revenue they thought it would, but tanking the team for the next few or 4 years will somehow bring more people to watch the Cubs and raise the value of their TV network? Hilarious.

Another dumbass response on your part. You created a mythical unicorn about the Cubs keeping Yu and I would be upset they didn’t trade him, if they were losing.

There was a reason why Theo bailed and said I need a year off. This shit needs to pass and no thanks. Watching a bunch of GM's scrambling and making stupid mistakes right now because owners are scared of loosing their ass.

No one wants to be involved with it. When you see the lowest MLB payroll that lost the WS looking to dump anything over 10M AAV... Ya it is comical

Most sports owners are assholes, just see the ones that own the team on the South Side (seriously **** Jerry for hiring LaRusssa) and the Bulls. Yet, the Ricketts make Jerry and Michael Reinsdorf look like the Steinbrenners, Busses, or Rooneys. The Ricketts are a special breed of asshole, excreting the most foul and voluminous shit. They can afford to spend money on Fascist, Far-Right Super PACS, but they can't take a half year of their best pitcher's salary and get better prospects?

it’s the same baseball nerds that spout fwar as gospel that hate this trade, yet Yu’s fwar for the remainder of his contract will be lower than his career rate. It’s funny

Well, shit. Looks like SI gave San Diego an A on the trade and a D- from the Cubs side.

SI said:

Other than serving as a cost-cutting measure, this trade makes little sense for Chicago. The Padres have four players ranked among MLB.com’s top 100 overall prospects, and the Cubs couldn’t work out a deal to get at least one of them for Darvish, who FanGraphs ranked the third best starting pitcher in baseball last year.

What I said was that GM's are following orders. The owners are losing profits. This stupid decisions are being made right now. Snell should not have been traded off of a team that made it to the WS. Now they are shopping Kramer. That is so dumb it comical.

Theo bailed and took a year off because the owners are in a panic.

Even Yu was shocked by this trade. This was not a normal scenerio. This is being driven by panic. Teams do not know if they will be able to fund a team this year and are making poor choices.

Now on value on the Yu deal? Who knows. That is 2025 and that is a bunch of time to wait. What I can say is no income issues Jed is not forced to dump payroll and Yu starts this year.

To be fair I'm pretty sure that they would have held Schwarber also. That was a dump with no replacement. They could have sat on it until July or let Davis cut into playing time late season. But he opted to dump.

That is the reality. So I can not say that this deal was of quality because of the unstability of baseball right now.

okay, so again you agree with me...yet, you’re arguing with me. Like I’ve said numerous times, this is where baseball is at in 2020/2021. You don’t have to like it, but it’s the reality

It was really weird how Theo bailed. With what is happening this off-season, he made the right choice to sit it out. I wouldn’t doubt ownership shared their vision of cheapdicking for the next few years and the plan didn’t meet Theo’s competitive nature.

Ya I'm guessing it was the writing on the wall and he didn't want the shit storm that is going on. He is not stupid and it is the MO of baseball. Give it a year and let the dust settle and get on with a team that is in a spot that he is comfortable with.

Imagine not being able to pick up on sarcasm...

point being anyone can find an article that agrees with them on the internet, doesn’t make your take correct. To think you KNOW the cubs could of gotten a larger haul for Yu, is quite laughable.

This isn’t a groupthink forum. Deal with it.
