Dude who gives a **** about yards.. so u care more about yards than a win.. we would for sure have won this shitty ass game with fields and Harrison jr. but a lot of dumbasses got exactly what they wanted.. fucking more than embarrassing that the fudge packers are 2-1 now with a no named loser backup at qb and we are in last place like usual.. oh but Caleb had 300 yds passing.. pfft

No, it was stupid. Your kicker does not have a strong leg that you can rely on to kick it out the back of the endzone.

You have only 1 timeout that you can rely on.

Your defense was struggling to stop anything in the drive(s) before that.

It was dumb. An onside kick is very low chance of succcess. I get that. It was still better than kicking it away and hoping the other team is as dumb as you are to not run it out.

What if he could reliably kick it out of the endzone? Do you still think we should onside kick it?

Are we happy with the defense effort today?
I think so. They can only do so much. Dudes were gassed. Three turnovers. Held INDY several times. Maybe a few more sacks, and we got gashed on a few big plays, but AR is always dangerous.

Lost in all of this is that if Santos doesn’t miss a FG that most of the kickers in the league make, the fourth quarter is looking a little different.
A 56 yarder is not being made consistently league wide.

They’re being made more often than in the past but it’s no gimme.

I guess there are a couple of ways of looking at this—

POSITIVES

• Caleb ended up playing really well—363 yards passing, 2/2
• Odunze had a big day—6/112/1
• Got Kmet involved, also a nice day—10/97/1
• DJM had a decent day 8/78
• DEF once again kept us in this, and played very well
• It's only week three

NEGATIVE

• OL is very bad
• Run game was bad—IDK what to do with Swift
• Play-calling was bad, got better, but still bad
• Turnovers killed us—2 ints, fumble by CW
• We should have won this game, INDY was bad

So I guess baby steps. I had this as a potential win, and AR tried to give it to us so many times.
Some progress, but some real issues here. Still, it's only week three.
We should have won though.

Agree. I'm actually getting pretty worried about the offense though. Bears can't run for shit. The Bears don't need to have Williams throw 52 times. And of course Williams and the receivers will have good numbers of you throw 52 times, but this fucking running game is pathetic.

They’re 85+ percent on 50-59 yarders.

Love Santos. Not suggesting he get kicked to the curb. But the league has passed him by. He’s no longer one of the 10-15 best kickers.
You're not wrong, but unfortunately the Bears (hopefully) learned their lesson with Gould in that you dont move on from a kicker until you already have a good replacement on the roster. And their might be a whopping 7-8 starting positions on the team that need upgrades way more urgently than "finding kicker who can hit 55-60 yards".

It was a rookie performance but he showed flashes in the second half finally. It’s going to be a long season unfortunately with no running game, this offensive line, and this coaching staff.

Have they been able to run the ball from four fucking yards out they would’ve won the game.

For all the other shit we are complaining about if they could run the ball four fucking yards against the worst run defense in the league they likely leave with a W

Not with the 2nd half. They seemed to mail it in on a few posessions. You have to be better at stopping the rushing attack of a team with dreadful QB play. Yet we allowed them 150 yards and 4.5 YPC.

I was behind and finally caught up. This game will create lots to talk about but as weird as this game was the turning point was an offsides penalty by the Bears punt return team that gave the Colts a 1st down.

Almost the end of the 3rd quarter the score was still 7 to 3 and bears about to get the ball back. After the penalty the defense came back flat and never recovered. That was the game. The Colts offense was dead before that and the penalty completely deflated the defense. Lots of big things to discus but little things will cost you a game.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Michigan Wolverines
  2. Ohio Bobcats
I mean I feel like progress is being made. Obviously a ways to go.
I like the progress. I don't think you can expect him to get better at any one thing from week to week, but this week was a good one to build upon. This week, when they review the game tape, Williams will have more good plays to review than he had in the preceding two weeks combined.

Bears are one draft from being really good IMO. OL is last piece that needs fixing and we have 3 picks in first 2 rounds. This year is about Caleb and Rome developing.
