Cubs need to win 2 games with Lester and 1 with Arrieta.

I think this series goes five games. Cubs winning game five. I don't see us sweeping them, or them sweeping us. Going to be a very exciting, tough series. Love the dead Cardinal, my wife and I were laughing. Brutal, but funny.

The series will go 4 games. We win game 1, Cards win game 2, and back at Wrigley we finish it off.

Book it.

He will be pitching games 1 and 4, IINM. Day off between venue changes.

really? that surprises me. who will go game 5 then?

according to the NLDS schedule if lester pitched game 4 itd be on 3 days rest

It looks like the following are locks

Game 1 - Lester
Game 3 - Arrieta

I tend to believe that the way it sets up is

Win Game 1: Hendricks - Arrieta - Hammel - Lester
Lose Game 1: Hammel/Bullpen - Arrieta - Hendricks - Lester

I don't think he wants anyone other than Lester for a potential game 5 and I don't think he'll pitch Hendricks in such a tight situation (down 1-0, on the road).

Arrieta is the projected Game 3 starter at several of the sites I've looked at. They could be wrong, but if that's the case, that's 4 days. That puts Lester at Game 4. You could be right, though.

arrieta in game 3 makes sense because it is 4 days rest as normal. but lester in a game 4 would be on 3 days rest

Unless the cubs MLB.com site isn't current, Hammel isn't on the 25 man roster-

that was for the 1 game wild card game. maddon gets to choose a new 25 man roster for the series against the cards
I know that. If it isn't out yet, it's a big assumption that Hammel will be on the 25 man.

There's NO WAY the Cubs playoff roster is only three starting pitchers. He might go Haren (as he had a sub 1 ERA this year in two starts against the Cards) but I'd doubt it.
