  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. DePaul Blue Demons
The apologists and excuse makers will blame injuries to the bullpen or the schedule but the reality is the offense let this team down. Can anyone honestly say that they are surprised the offense didn't show up today? I would have been surprised if it HAD shown up. I'm not advocating that they blow the team up. But something has to change with the offense next season. Yes, statistically it is a good unit. But way too much inconsistency in general. You commonly hear the cubs offense referred to as being "fest or famine." As a result, too often the pitching staff is put in a position where it has to be near perfect to win. That can't happen again going forward if this team is going to win another championship in this current window. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, it is time to start asking the tough questions about the lack of development from too many of the young hitters (Schwarber, Contreras, Russell, etc).

Gary Pressy is a little chunky, but he's not a lady. There's literally no fat ladies warming up any pipes in Wrigley.

Are you this wrong in every forum?

I don't recall saying the fat lady was at the ballpark.

Thanks

Disappointing but it was a good game. Brewers came through with their opportunities. Cubs did not. Situations like this you just gotta tip your cap to the other team. They won 8 straight to finish the season and 10 of the last 11. Not much you can do about that.

well hopefully Epstein moves on from Contreras & Russell this offseason

Be careful what you wish for...that would put our buddy Caratini in line to be a regular. Not sure I could handle that for a whole season.

When it comes down to it, there were too many bullpen injuries to overcome what was a tough schedule. Hopefully the offense comes through and bails out the defense in the playoffs. Need the young hitters step it up - they have great coaching just need to put it together.

Welp....got to admit I'm really not surprised nor terribly disappointed.

This Cubs team is very good, but I never considered them a likely contender for the WS this year. At the end fo the day, they played to their talent level.

They were doomed by the pathetic returns they realized from the off-season FA investments, and further hurt by injuries and down years from AR and WC.

Houston, Boston, and NYY will likely kick our asses in the WS if we're lucky enough to get there.

Eh... I mean they had to get to Chacin. Like no one hits the brewers bullpen. It's a tough position to be in because you don't wanna press and let the starter get away with low pitch innings but if you don't score early you're probably going to lose with their bullpen. Look at it like this, if you swap the two teams bullpen do the Brewers win that game? It was 1-1 when both teams went to the pen.

The bullpen had the injuries, but still performed well.

The offense was completely nonexistent. I think we see the value of a healthy Kris Bryant.

More people are here celebrating this loss than have ever celebrated a win.

What a trollfest.

Still waiting to hear what FanGraphs says about Cubs winning the division now?

I've yet to see one person celebrating the loss. Take off the tinfoil hat, Grandpa.
