  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Cubs had 97 so only 3 behind and the Pirates had 98. That is insane. It is hard to really say any of those teams were not the best in baseball and right now I think you can make the Case the Cubs are the best.
They could win the WS and leave no doubt. That's how the case is won.

Is that you Tim?

No? Not sure if that's a serious question or some joke that went over my head. I was pretty high on adrenaline when I wrote that!

Manny is straight up Baez mentor. he may have not been great in the field but one of the best pure hitters I have ever seen. Seems him and Baez like each other and that was smart by Theo and them to bring Manny in.

Silence, I honestly don't give a shit. I am just really happy they won. Have a great night and enjoy it while it lasts.

I wasn't reallly arguing. I was at a bar. After replays, it went a lot further then I thought. I knew it was a moon shot. Boy is a bowling ball of power.

Man I almost cried had to hold back tears. Only time I ever cried in sports was that 03 year, brought out a lot of emotions. I know they have a long way to go but so proud of what they accomplished and thankful I am alive to see it.

Remember leaving Wrigley after that game holding back tears, I knew they would lose game 7 after that.

Someone else mentioned Manny really helping him. Think it might have been Soler but don't quote me on that.

Special, special season. Easily the most magical Cubs season I've experienced in 35 years. There is something so incredibly different about this year in comparison to 09, 08, 03, 89, and 84. And it starts at the absolute top.

New Owner: Rickets
New Pres: Theo
New GM: Hoyer
New Scouting
New Manager: Joe Maddon
New Talent: Bryant, Rizzo, Arrieta, Schwarber, Russell, Soler, Fowler, Baez, Lester, Montero, Rondon.

This is one of the most talented teams I've ever seen, period. The collective of talent is, quite frankly, stunning. We have elite talent at virtually every position. Our managing is elite (from Maddon to Bosio). Our scouting is elite -- both international and domestic. We are an elite organization, top to bottom. It's in the mold of the Blackhawks.

I'll never forget in 2013 Theo said, and I'm paraphrasing, "The fans in Chicago might not know it, but the talk amongst other organizations in MLB is the Cubs are coming -- and we're coming fast." I did not believe him for a second when I heard that. Well, I'm a believer now. Theo Epstein is one of the brightest minds in modern day baseball.

Also I heard he told Eddie Vedder that he knew we'd have a World Series caliber team by 2016. He did not know it would be in 2015.

I had about 10 regular posters. Now I have 30 guys saying they are about to cry. Bandwagon. No issues. Jump the **** on.

LOL, yeah okay. Bandwagon fans because they didn't post on a Cubs forum that was getting no action? There is an actual Cubs forum ya know, one that has about 50x the activity of this one.

I think he meant it was indicative, not definitive, but don't kid yourself there are tons of folks on the bandwagon and that's ok. This is a fun team and people gravitate to a fun team. Most of my close friends that are baseball fans are fans of other teams including, Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Giants, Tigers and Braves. All of them are onboard for this Cubs run. I don't mind that a bit, climb on board. To your point though I agree there are a lot of diehard fans but some of those diehards were the same folks who ridiculed me an others for understanding what was going on here.

A guy I've known for thirty years came on Facebook last year and called me out as naive and an idiot for believing in Theo's plan. He called Tom Ricketts a charlatan who was out to line his pockets and fleece Cubs fans. When I tried to explain how he was wrong with a conversation about talent, the money spent on the actual organization instead of throwing money at overpriced free agency he told me he didn't reason with morons and used an expletive or two. He declared he was no longer a Cubs fan after 35 years or some such. Yeah, that same guy is the biggest cheering Cubs fan in the world right now. Sure he's a Cubs fan but that's bandwagon too. He's also welcome but there is an "I told you so" moment coming.

Look, I'm actually a bit sorry for running my mouth here and really didn't mean to single you out but I needed to point out that there are a lot of bandwagon jumpers and who cares? The more the merrier on this ride.

Of course there are bandwagoners, but to point to a Cubs message board's activity, that was run by a huge Sox troll that also encouraged other Sox trolls, is pretty dumb. If anything, Grimson deserves all the credit for putting Sox trolls in their place and generating more Cubs traffic.

By the way, I had a similar argument with my friend last season as well. Wasn't that bad, and I wouldn't call him a bandwagoner, but he was definitely disgruntled. Let's face it, they were brutal to watch the past few seasons. I couldn't even follow who many of them were since they were here one minute, gone the next.
