I think Pippen was a great player...

All-time great? I don't know about that...but that's subjective. When you say All-Time great, that means that player is top 10-15 to me. I can't put him in that category.

I see what your saying. But look at it this way. I come from the point of view that while he's not a top 15 player as you put it. He was definately good enough. He just didn't have the chance to show it. That top 15 player list your talking about, is based a lot on politics. Hell solely on politics. It doesn't take into account every great players opportunities like in pippens case. Its not based on talent, its based on awards that limited to the best players on the top 2 or three teams. Marketability, and on lifetime achievements as you so eloquently put earlier.

Scottie pippens claim to fame is versitility and defense. He really should've won at the least one dpoy award. He did lead the league in defensive efficiency, and was the leader in defensive efficiency twice in the playoffs. And he's won championships with his defense. And based on 94, I'm confident he would've lead teams to championships and won an mvp award on the way. And I'm kinda vindicated when a guy claims pippen isn't that good, but when I ask for suitable replacement players I get players that are commonly put in the top 15.

A prime example of this is if scottie pippen is a supervisor. Which I think you guys rank him. But he holds down the company doing just about everything (the team). And when he leaves, the only suitable replacement is a CEO. I see pippen as a CEO. He just never really had the chance to named that. But he did just about all the things a CEO does.

2004: 35 Wins
2005: 42 Wins
2006: 50 Wins
2007: 50 Wins
2008: 45 Wins
2009: 66 Wins
2010: 61 Wins
2011: 19 Wins

We think the Bulls are great because they went 62-20 this past season playing team basketball. The Cavaliers had back to back 60 win seasons because of Lebron.

Yeah, well worth the hate.

I am not going to make Pippen a top 15 player based on what he "could have" done. Those that are above him are there based on what they did. Really, there are no politics involved. If you are talking politics...the difference between Scottie and Dominique being in the top 50? Rings...that's it.

To be a CEO takes more than just talent, you have to show the ability to lead and not crack under pressure. That is where Scottie was very questionable over his time as the team leader. Let's not assume he sacrificed so much by playing with Jordan...he was seamless as Jordan's sidekick for a reason...

Pippen is in the Top 75 now.

When I've got in arguments about Pippen with people I would hear the anti-Pip folks say (not saying anyone on here is anti-Pip, I've in worked in sports media for 10 years, with people from other towns, so I've had this argument many times) - "well, he doesn't deserve to be in the top 50 anymore." As if he's the only one, somehow.

If we redid the Top 50 all-time NBA great players - how many guys would be replaced? I agree Pippen would come off the list, but who else.

That was done in 1997. Who would be in the top 50 since 1997?

Tim Duncan
Kevin Garnett
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James
Dwyane Wade
Dirk Nowitzki
Allen Iverson

Other you could argue - Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, Paul Pierce.

There. That should kep this thread going until well over 1000. HA HA HA HA :elephant:
Pippen is firmly entrenched in the top 50. The only guys I wouldnt include on your list into the to 50 is iverson, and wade. Or at least not at the expense of pippen. But thses are the guys that for sure would come off before pippen.

Archibald
Arizen
Bing
Dubucherre
Drexler
Cowens
Cousey
Frazier
Gervin
Hayes
Lucas
Marivich
Mchale
Parrish
Shayes
Stockton
Worthy

How you can say pippen comes off the top 50 before these guys says a lot about your view off pippen.

If you are honestly saying that Pippen is better than the people I highlighted, than you should never, ever post about basketball again.

Elvin Hayes. He of the 27,000 career points, and 16,000 career rebounds should be off the list. You are a damn fool.

Kevin McHale, arguably one of the best post players, EVER, off of your list.

Wade > Pippen...that is fairly easy to recognize.

Honestly, he might not make it...Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Duncan, Garnett, Dirk, Nash...maybe he makes it...maybe not. But I think 5 of those for sure get in

Now I will sit back and watch the Lebron haters come out of the woodworks...as if James Worthy was a better player...[/QUOTE

Well James Worthy probably isn't as strong or big as LeBron, but he is a better shooter, he is a more creative finisher, just as good as a ball handler and probably a better defender. He seemed to be an underrated athlete as well. From what I have seen personally from James Worthy which are mostly highlights, I would put him ahead of LeBron. Now I'm far from a hater on any player in any sport, just not that impressed when it comes to LeBron.

Now I agree LeBron would be in the top 50 greatest players if they were to do it again today, and maybe be in ahead of Worthy. But if it came down to taking Worthy out in for LeBron, I would argue that.

WHAT JAMES WORTHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MAN!!! Lol...better defender and ballhandler than Lebron??? Are you friggin' kidding me? Worthy was a post player predominately, Lebron was a better shooter....I saw more of Worthy then you did....and...no...I don't know who you are talking about. There must have been 2 James Worthys.

I would keep Wade and Iverson on the list. I would have them both ranked higher than LeBron.

I'm not expecting you to. But let's say he goes into that game three. Everything else happens as is. But he enters the game, they still loose to the knicks in seven. Then what do you say about pippen.
