Teams rarely use zone defenses. And zone is a defense constructed for bad defenders and defenders.

Nevertheless, it would have been an effective way to defend a team with Scottie Pippen- who was not a particular good three-point shooter either.

You shouldn't just ignore the rules that benefited Pippen offensively and hindered LeBron. Especially the defensive three-second rule, which arguably was the single most limiting rule ever instilled for NBA defenses.

Pippen wasn't a bad 3pt shooter, especially relative to the era he played in. And I'm not ignoring any rule changes. you need to be directing this post to heff. He's the one that seems to think the defensive rule changes don't matter. Besides, pippen never played during the time the defensive 3 second rule was implemented.

I admitted pippen would never reached 35 ppg. But I don't understand how you can say a rule change that was implemented to help scoring doesn't help james. You wanna talk about silly? They then add the 3 second rule which hinders centers from standing in the paint. I just don't see how that didn't help.

And besides that, while both players are considered point forwards, pippen looked more to get players involved first. And this was something pippen was great at. All the core players scoring and FG% inproved when jordan retired. James looks to score first, then pass. It seems to me that once a player joined james, they're production was drastically hindered. Look at larry hughes, or mo williams, or antawn jamison.

Larry Hughes was brought in to be Scottie Pippen initially. His game suffered because he didn't want to sacrifice his game for Lebron...not because of James selfishness...Jamison is old...how did Lebron hurt him? Jamison had his chances and Garnett beat his ass. Mo Williams became an allstar!!!

Lebron James averaged 8.6 assists per game his last year in Cleveland. Pippen's highest was 7.0, and he had a guy named Jordan to pass the ball to.

It seems to me like you are making things up.

I don't think rule changes matter in Lebron's case. You had Magic and Bird being immensely successful in those times, and they were not as athletic as Lebron is now. Put Lebron back 25 years at 6'8" and 270 pounds...no doubt he would have been very dominant.

At the end of the day, those rule changes don't affect the argument of who is better between Lebron and Pippen...because there really is no damn argument...

He actually did play a couple years after. The rule was implemented in 2002 and I believe Pippen's last game was in 2004.

Wasn't he constantly injured by that point though? I mean, his last season with the Bulls he only played like 30 games or so. I don't know how much he was affected by the rule, but with such a lack of playing time anyway, I don't see how it matters much.

It doesn't. I was just pointing out that Pippen did play after the rule changes, because 97 said he never did.

This thread has massive amounts of fail in it.

Point forward was an invented term for Pippen? Incorrect. The term was around when Pippen was in grade school.

Tracy McGrady arguably better than Pippen? WTF?!?

Lebron didn't shut down Rose? Give me a break. Rose couldn't even get past Lebron to the Heat's help defense.

Jordan didn't showboat? Anyone remember the finger wag back at Mutombo? How about holding the ball over his head and playing with a Bullet's defender? How about hitting a jumper in the corner on the bullets and kicking his feet back like he was kicking dirt on the bench? What about his constant shit talking with players on the floor?

ANSWER: 1994 Bulls win series 4 to 1

REASONS: 3 veteran Allstars with championship experiance...best player in league:ScottiePippen...Deep Bench.....Better scoring and defense....Deeper Bench....Bigger and more physical...Played in a more physical tougher era.....Phil Jackson is the coach...better 4th quarter play.......MAIN REASON:SCOTTIE PIPPEN.........Enough said.....
Double Thanks on a great collection , like it!

1. No one cares.

2. I didn't read a post where you proved anything besides your general idiocy.

3. Scottie Pippen blows.

After all the crap that has been posted in this thread, THAT is what you focus on?

I focused on that since that was the last post I've seen. I've focused on several other things throughout this thread already.

But thanks for looking out for me :beerbang:
