Who in the past has had a cup hangover?
I'm only the messenger--I disagreed a lot with what they two pundits were saying.

The team likley won't have any "cup hangover", but of all the team, Toews, in spite of the contract, the gold, and the hardware, would be least likley of all of them--the man's work ethic is impeccable.

the wangs, they let the leafs beat them in their home opener in 08-09 :p

but then they went on to the cup finals, but to loose, so they don't really count.

Then there's the Ducks (lost in first round), Hurricanes (missed playoffs), Lightning (8th place in east, and 1st round loss), Jersey (6th in east, and 1st round loss), and Detroit again (swept in first round by 7th seed). I'm not going further back than the turn of the millennium.
None of those teams are/were quite like the Hawks. Either way repeating is very difficult but then again so is winning the Gold, Con Smyth and Stanley Cup all in the same year.

Not teams, specific players as was mentioned in their argument.

Both teams winning the last two Cups started in Europe.

These assholes are talking for the sake of talking. Nothing better to do in August when no one really gives a rats ass about hockey to begin with. Let's "Stir the pot some".

i agree, but i was just showing that a cup hangover isn't an unheard of thing in today's NHL, though Toews is the least likely person in the NHL to have one; the kid's a beast. I don't see the hawks having one either.

Chemistry and Injuries will be the biggest issues. Chemistry will fall right into place with guys like JT, Sharp, Campbell and Seabrook on the team.

Injuries will play a big part and how the depth makes up for them when and if they occur. Last year we were for the most part pretty lucky most of the year. ALthough some might say having Hossa out for three months could have hurt winning the conference. Having Campbell out could have hurt the beginning of the playoffs had he not amazingly returned two weeks ahead of schedule.

Lot's of tangibles but NO WAY is this team decimated, or in fear of not fighting for the #1 over all in the Conference and League.

Don't forget about Toews' concussion, that could have really hurt if he was out for as long as Mitchell, I'd argue the hawks wouldn't have won the cup if he was out that long.

Injuries are always the X-factor that can make or break a team, and why I never truly predict the season's final standings any time before the last month of the season, even then I don't feel right about doing it, because it's bound to jinx something.

I think knowing who the number one goalie is from the get-go will help this team in the chemistry department. Going into the season without a goalie battle for once, has to account for something. THis is of course unless Turco falls flat on his face.

have you seen his past 2 seasons? that's his MO right now... though the MUCH improved D-cops playing in front of him should help. I just don't trust the ******, he's basically the Modano of goalies.

Yeah I've seen him play:

Tue Dec 29, 2009 Blackhawks Stars

7:00 PM FINAL CHI (4) - DAL (5)

Tue Feb 9, 2010 Stars Blackhawks

7:30 PM FINAL DAL (3) - CHI (4) SO

3 out of 4 points doesn't look too bad. But seriously, last year wasn't bad for the D he had, and the year before he played like74 freaking games, 4,327 min infront of those slouches.

I watched quite a bit of Stars hockey last year and the team in front of him sucked. Their best D man, Robidas, would have a hard time cracking our top four.

He fell on his face no more than Louongo on his, and he at least had two D men in front of him. You are slighting him because you don't like him. Understandable but anything you say has to be taken with that in consideration.

Again his SV % was BETTER then NIEMI last year and Turco faced 14 more shots per game!!

His hatred for Turco is akin to the Bizarro love for Niemi from StuG there a while back

I think the Modano hate trumps all though. At least Niemi was worthy of praise... don't really see the reason to hate Truco.

Oh and I hope Turco gets multiple shutouts against Luongo this year and preferably in the PLAYOFFS!!

I can say the Madano hate tops all... but for every hate filled battle TCD had with the image of Madano dry humping him, there was usually an equally graphic alliteration of you filating Niemi...

Turco has never bested luongo in a playoff series, and that was when he was actually decent.

Well since Louongo has never done SHIT in the playoffs that makes them equal. One makes 1.3 mil and the other is possibly the most over rated, highest payed cry baby in the entire NHL. I'll take Turco.

And the only two times Lou has played the "Hawks" in the playoffs he's sucked dick straight to the GOLF COURSE!

Lets look at over all playoff Numbers shall we.....

Turco 47 games 2.17 .914

Louongo 34 game 2.46 .919

And that's even giving the clear fact Loungos last two teams were far superior to Turco's.

So sorry.

Good points RK, and the point too about Turco's save percentage in your previous post.

I think it will be very interesting what the upcoming year brings.

I'm predicting that Turco will be a very reliable and capable goalie for the Hawks.

I could always be wrong but behind this Defense I see an eager Marty Turco doing very well.

The 4$ million pay cut to WIN sold me.
