Nick Leddy
improved his game with his stint in the AHL during the lockout. Leddy wanted to improve his defense as his offensive game has been strong during his two NHL seasons. "He's got a better stick, he's coming up with some loose pucks and when he starts the rush from our end he can alleviate that pressure and skate by people," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's been good on power-play entries as well; and he's got a good shot. He's been playing different kind of minutes against different kind of guys. We're comfortable against any kind of matchup with him out there but there's been overall improvement in his game." Leddy picked up the overtime winner on Sunday and now has a goal and five points in six games. Grab in if you can as there are not a lot of scoring defensemen in the NHL at this time.

The Chicago Blackhawks are second in the NHL at killing penalties. The Blackhawks were terrible last season on the penalty kill as they were 27th, but the turnaround this season has been amazing as they have given up only one goal in 23 chances. Niklas Hjalmarsson leads the team in shorthanded minutes at 20:17 in six games. The special team is a big reason the Blackhawks are 6-0 in the early going.

Well, these numbers are interesting.

http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_statistics.php?ds=30&f1=2012_s&f2=5v5&f4=C+LW+RW&f5=CHI&c=0+1+3+5+4+6+7+8+13+14+29+30+32+33+34+45+46+63+67

I read this in another blog and wanted to bring it over here for discussion. That's the CORSI ratings of the Hawks forwards. Basically, CORSI is the sum of the shots, attempted shots, blocked shots, etc., that happen while you're on the ice. Positive ratings generally mean you're in the offensive zone when you're on the ice. Negative ratings mean the opposite.

Top player? Brandon Saad. If anyone wants to doubt this kid, please let me know, so I can tell you how wrong you are.

Bottom 3? This is scary: Kane, Bolland, Sharp. That line still gets its points here and there but it's not up to par with the rest of the team, lately.
