I will say it again:

JR is getting old, he only needs to break even. fuck it and go for it and spend some money.

Keep AJ
Trade konerko to the west coast
Trade Rios for low spec and cash
sign greinke(im sure the sox will be in on this since they have a boner for him)
if discount (doubt) but lets say he does...peavy

I mean how can you complain about a rotation like:

Sale
Greinke
Danks
Peavy
Floyd

Just keeping peavy and getting greinke makes you a lot better

get cody ross

Not bad, but 0% chance of that. :(

If we could dump Rios I would be down with going for Hunter as a free agent.

Maybe LA would be willing to take Rios? I know they have Peter Bourjos, but maybe they'll fall for Rios' good year?

regression to the mean

August 1 to current
3.80 ERA 19 BB 60 SO in 71 IP 11 HRS ouch 69 hits

Too be fair to Peavy, he hadn't pitched this many innings since 2007.

Hunter would be a nice addition. A guy who isnt going to be hr or nothing like the rest of the team. need guys like hunter.

I agree peavy hasnt pitched 200 innings in a long time. maybe he comes back stronger. :dunno:

I wouldn't bet $22MM on it. I'd buy out his contract and give him the qualifying offer. At least get a draft pick back when some other team takes the risk.

I think most would agree with this. Peavy isn't worth the $22MM on merit or risk, but if we came back at a reasonable offer I think most would take it.

Hunter in RF would be an upgrade over Rios in RF, and Alex was pretty solid in RF this year. His bat is solid too, .366 OBP this year and a wRC+ (kind of like OPS+) of 131

Torii Hunter is 37...how much do you think he'd want to sign for? Even at that age he'd probably be overpaid relative to what he can actually do for you.

I would be down with a 2 year 12MM or something, but I doubt he would take that.

Danks hasn't shown much in his time. He's an okay late inning sub-pinch runner.
Everyone else is still in the minors.

I'd probably just try to get Cody Ross. Cheaper and younger. Better as a trade asset later on.

Would that also go for Chris Sale?

68 IP, 71 H, 20 BB, 78 SO 12 HR 3.84 era since Aug 1

Dont think it applies to Sale because he has pitched a lot of innings this year, 120 more than last year (~192 in 2012, ~71 in 2011), so I think he has just been overworked, if we had made the playoffs I would have been worried about his usage

Yeah to kinda piggy back Sale's stuff got tired at the end, his velo was down and the slider started sweeping instead of breaking towards the end. Innings workload is a bitch sometimes.

I thgouth that too but I equated that as the same as Peavy coming back off of his arm issue.
