of course, but the hawks might want something other than picks and specs. I know I would.

Not if they are good picks and you are trying to create cap space for two big signings.

ESPNChiHawks says it sounds like Suter is a lost cause now though, but we are all in on Parise

Suter should be a lock for Nashville or Detroit.

13 year deals for hockey players is like 4-5 year deals for hard throwing starting pitchers. scary shit.

Yes, but it is also true that if you stand pat you don't win.

Would Hawks have won in 2012 without signing Hossa for (12?) years? I don't think so.

And if they get injured badly and aren't able to play, isn't there a way to take them off the payroll?

That 12 years is to lower the cap hit, only reason he got 12 years

 pick and choose your battles.

Parise won't be young anymore in Hossa's later years, don't want 2 old past-prime players at once, so I don't get the logic.

Parise will be 28 this month, Hossa is 33 with 9 years left.

By Hossa's last year you have a 37 year old and a 42 year old.

The logic is that you only get so many shots with a team. Adding Parise gives this team another top 6 forward that it needs badly. This would be an all in move, and I would be jumping for joy if it happened.

Parise is 28. Hoss is gonna be 34 soon plus his injuries are slowly piling up.

And that's what I overlooked, the suggestion that the window (LOL, what window?) is closing sooner than later with aging Hossa and Sharp... I gotcha
