Really? Then I don't know what will.

I think the Blackhawks are pretty much contenders if just Crawford rebounds. Take out getting Suter/Parise. A full year of Oduya and Brookbank already helps the defense from where they were last year.

Don't know exactly what your little smiley face is trying to get at, but Brookbank sure looks like a better option than O'Donnell at this point. I'd take Brookbank over O'Donnell...which means the defense has improved (not matter how little), even if at the #6/7 position.

101 points last year.

If the defense is improved (which it is with a full year of Oduya and Brookbank) and Crawford rebounds (back to his numbers the previous year)...then yes this team is a legit contender.

Sure they still have some holes but they would still be considered a contender.

But hey, you used belittling tactics instead of engaging in a conversation like an adult, so I guess you are right.

They did finish with 101 points last season. I don't know why that had a question mark by it.

Instead of going to dumb pictures, attempted name calling, etc...tell me why they wouldn't be contenders.

I said if Crawford bounces back and a full season of Brookbank/Oduya (which will improve the defense from last year, no matter how little or big) makes the Blackhawks a contender.

Let's say everything else stays the same, relatively, then those two things mean a 106 point season, 110ish even? The biggest thing would be Crawford bouncing back and putting up atleast .10% more in save percentage. That point total would compete for a conference title. Any team that competes for a conference title is a contender.

Some people around here must get pretty upset when the Blackhawks win, when Stalberg scores, or when Crawford does well.

I will make it simple for you ok.

1. If crawford bounces back

2. If Hossa is healthy

3. If Patrick Sharp is 100%

4. If Stalberg can produce at the same level as last season

5. If there is no setback with Toews

6. If the PP can be better

Shall I go on? I can keep going if you want.

The team as currently constructed is really not all that great. They have been 1st round and out the last 2 years, what makes you think that all of a sudden they are "contenders" and not yet again "pretenders" If you are thinking this way each player better have a career year.

Were you confused about how many points they had last season?

no no no I was confused, I was reading about how Rizzo is projected to be 101 points higher next year in his OBP than where Votto sits right now. sorry.

You are assuming the worse for no good reason. Also, you are basically taking my comments completely out of context and straying from the original question that was posted.

I can go on in the opposite direction and they are all good possibilities, but in the end they are just assumptions on your part basically. Sharp missed games last year. Toews missed games last year. Shaw didn't even play half a year. Kane, Crawford, Bickell, Frolik all had down years. Toews, Kane, Stalberg are all young guys who could be on the up swing. A lot of things could go right..but this isn't even the scenario that I am talking about and debating.

I am saying if Crawford bounces back, w/ Brookbank/Oduya for a full season, and all other things being relatively the same...the Blackhawks are contenders.

Wow yeah that is clearly the point. Sorry to contradict you. Go whine about AJ not being the All-Star game now.
