Not sure considering I didn't see the negotiations. The Blackhawks could have paid more, but if that wasn't in the interests of Parise or Suter, then there isn't too much the Blackhawks could do about that. My response if Bowman would have signed them is as long as it brought championships the signings would have been justified.

The hawks really couldnt offer more money...it came down to where they were playing...minnesota works for both. Chicago only works for 1 of them

We offered them some of the biggest contracts they had on the table, think I heard we offered more than Detroit's 90 Million to Suter... Philly offered the most to both though, so it wasn't all about money.

We offered the same number of years too, but Parise just wanted to be at home and convinced Suter to join him.

I knew we wouldn't get Suter so I'm not that disappointed in that deal, but the fact that our current "score" is Sheldon "you never even fucking heard of me until you signed me" Brookbank is nauseating at the very least. I just broke it off with my fiance and I think this off-season of fuckups by Bowman may be more devastating than the breakup...

Pipe dream if people think Shane Doan will come here.

I suppose they could have if they dumped Bolland which would have been :turrible:, Hjalmerson, etc.

At the end of the day I believe that hockey is more of a top to bottom talent, where as the NBA is more of having stars.

Sorry to hear that, but Bowman hasn't really fucked up, he signed a replacement for O'Donnell at an overpay, but still cheap contract, and he pursued the two biggest free agents on the market. Off-season isn't over yet either.

:lmao: Suter and Parise we bid high for and you thought we had a chance at Suter, but Shane Doan is a pipe dream?

Come on, don't be so serious and negative.

To be honest, I don't like the thought process of "we have to make an impact" being this urgent, seems like we will overpay in FA or trade and suffer the consequences for it.

I'm OK that they didn't sign these particular players, but the idea that a GM (or whoever is making the personnel decisions) can get a pass and say that they tried just doesn't sit well with me.

GarPax tried for the big 3, and failed. Now the Big 3 are well on their way to multiple titles, and the Bulls are now 4/5 seeds every year.

After watching Angelo for a decade say the Bears can't afford a #1 WR, Phil Emery gets a deal done within 5 minutes of his first free agency.

I'm afraid Bowman or whoever is making the personnel decisions is becoming more like Jerry Angelo, which isn't a good thing.

Since when are the Bulls 4/5 seeds?

And how doesn't it sit well? You realize there are 29 other teams in the NHL? You can't get every star... he just needs to reassess and find other ways to improve the team now.

This offseason of fuckups? C'mon Bob, it's July 4th. If we're having this same discussion in August then, yeah, you have an argument.

There were a lot of teams involved in this Suter/Parise sweepstakes and waiting to see what happened. Two huge dominoes just fell. Plenty of moves still to come.

It doesn't sit well because I expect the Blackhawks to land impact players at need positions (Suter)

That doesn't mean I expect the GM to splash in free agency every summer, after 2 offseasons of limited resources in FA, I thought the Blackhawks should have made a splash.

To confrim I'm not angry at Parise not signing with Chicago. There wasn't anything Bowman could do if his mind was made up on those two places. Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Zach Parise, via text message, confirms what Lamoriello said that had he not gone home to Minny he would have stayed in New Jersey
