Hahaha you're trying to be Capt. Serious. This is hilarious.

Forgive me if I'm not getting all that worried about this team THREE DAYS into free agency.

Plenty of moves still happening.

[Edit] By the way, I edited that last post because I was waiting for you to respond to my initial comment. And my post went up at the same time as yours.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
And if you think I bash the Blackhawks at no end I'll give you some good moves I thought Bowman made.

Re-signing Sharp before he hit FA(Hopefully not on a sharp decline)

Extending Crawford (Kind of eating crow now)

Acquiring Oduya

Honestly, I don't care about your previous bashing/non-bashing of the Hawks.

No not really. I just don't feel the need to be satisfied with a team that has had first round exits two years running.

Yes, its better than what the Blackhawks have had the 50 years prior, I'll admit that.

I just don't want it to be too late before the Blackhawks have their hands tied and limited in their abilities to make moves.

You should've had low exceptions when FA started.

Blowman doesn't have a pair to fix the problems plaguing this team.

And i'm not talking Suter/Parise.

Then what are you talking about? Nobody else of significance has signed..

Oh wait, Dowell was the answer amirite?

I'd rather see the Hawks make moves in trades this summer instead of free agency. Suter and Parise just got two of the top five contracts in NHL history. Both are great players, no doubt. But that is some serious, serious money they just received.

It's far more likely to get a fair deal in a trade instead of in a very thin UFA class this year. If you have fears of Bowman's ability to make a good trade, I won't blame you. I still think something big is going to happen, especially after seeing tweets like this from Chris Kuc:

For those asking, I believe #Blackhawks will still try and make an impact signing or deal. Pressure is on from upstairs to do so.

By the way, my assertion of trades over free agency will change completely in 2013, when there's a HUGE crop of talented UFAs available.

Everywhere you read, Hjalmarsson is on the block. I don't know if it makes sense to have a defenseman-for-defenseman swap, but I'd love to see a trade that packages Hjalmarsson with picks/prospects/others in exchange for a real good defensive-first D-man to pair with Leddy on the 2nd D pairing.

I'd love to see a Hawks D corps of:

Keith/Seabrook
Leddy/Insert player here
Oduya/Brookbank
Montador as the 7th guy.

And have Olsen skating top pairing minutes back in Rockford and ready for a call-up just in case.

I could be wrong, but isn't a 2.75M cap hit a bit much for a 7th DMan?

Probably. But teams aren't likely to take him because of his recent injury issues so the Hawks are stuck with him.

At second glance, I should've flipped Brookbank and Montador on that list.

Who would you have in mind for the 2nd line pairing with Leddy?

There are about a dozen guys I'd love to have there, but availability is the issue.

About the only guy I've heard of who's actually available right now is Jay Bouwmeester from Calgary.

He does bring a crazy cap hit of $6.68 million, but there are only two years left on it. So if he sucked, he wouldn't be around forever.

But it may be the best option because it may be the only option. Which also makes it the worst option. Wait, what?

What about yandle? He is on the block and a deal around a good young dman (hammer) a cheap goal scorer(stalberg) and a prospect might be enticing enough
