Some Hawk fans laughing at the Wings, when should be more worried about our own cluster **** team right now.
At least the Wings have Dats, Filppula/Zetterberg & Helm/Abdelkader down the middle.
Their defense right now is questionable but off-season is far from done.
Jimmy Howard > both the sieves we have in net.
Is that even worth saying? Okay, they have a good goalie who is better than ours... that's obvious as hell. And of course he is better than our backup
Ya, their defense may be questionable, and the off-season is far from done... that's what you don't realize when ranting about the Hawks defense and the wasted off-season, a move can still be made.
And sure they have Datsyuk, Filppula, Zetterberg, Helm, and Abdelkader, but it isn't like we have nothing.
Datsyuk vs. Sharp
-Sharp 9.7 PS > Datsyuk 7.9 PS
--Sharp 7.3 OPS > Datsyuk 5.7 OPS
--Sharp 2.4 DPS > Datsyuk 2.2 DPS
Filppula vs. Kane
-Filppula 7.9 PS > Kane 6.9 PS
--Filppula 5.7 OPS > Kane 5.3 OPS
--Filppula 2.2 DPS > Kane 1.6 DPS
*Kane's career lows and Filppula's career highs FWIW
Toews 7.9 PS > Zetterberg 7.6 PS (BTW, does PS factor in games played, if so Toews is at a disadvantage and still surpasses him)
-Toews 6.2 OPS > Zetterberg 5.5 OPS
-Zetterberg 2.1 DPS > Toews 1.7 DPS
Helm doesn't show up on their depth chart on CBS, but by this point the core offensive players are scattered into different spots, so I put him against Stalberg.
Stalberg 5.3 PS > Helm 2.2 PS
-Stalberg 4.1 OPS > Helm 1.1 OPS
-Stalberg 1.2 DPS Helm 1.1 DPS
Abdelkader is listed on this depth chart as 3rd line LW, but Hossa hadn't been used by us for this yet, so if this is a core guy as you refer to him as, might as well throw Hossa into the mix instead of Bickell, our core vs. their core.
Hossa 9.4 PS > Abdelkader 1.6 PS
-Hossa 7.3 OPS > Abdelkader 0.5 OPS
-Hossa 2.1 DPS > Abdelkader 1.1 DPS
Basically, the Hawks 5 main offensive players are > than the five Detroit forwards you mentioned, I don't see what is so special about it compared to what we have.
Hawks 5 at 39.2 PS vs. 27.2 for the Wings players you mentioned.
Helm and Abdelkader are still young if that is why you included them, but then again, so are Toews, Kane, and Stalberg.
Howard's PS is 3 greater than Crawford's though, that is an area they kill us in.
For kicks, even though this has nothing to do with the irrelevancy of them having those 5 as something we can't match, but out of pure curiosity, I took Detroit's Top 5 in PS vs. the Hawks Top 5 in PS and here are the results:
Howard + Datsyuk + Filppula + Franzen + Lidstrom = 41.9
Sharp + Hossa + Toews + Seabrook + Crawford = 41.8
And of course Lidstrom retired and their next highest was .3 lower than him, but the two were comparable nevertheless.
