I would give him a shot in the majors... he's batting .253 now, but it's not too bad. Not great by any measure, but he seems to be coming arounf unlike previous years where he sucked. Remember he's only 22...

I am well aware of the fact that he is only 22. However, this is far from an improvement over his rate stats from a year ago. He actually hit .283/.322/.448 in the Southern League which is a much more pitcher friendly league than the PCL. If you look at his full year stats, this year would be the lowest of any year since he played 14 games in 2008. Like I said there are some encouraging signs with Vitters, mainly the defensive improvement at the hot corner, but lets not oversell this.

Yeah, I said a September call-up. I think they had to block him from the Rule V draft as he's never been in the majors.

Yeah he was added because he was eligible for that this year or the year before.

I will be putting up my regular minor league report on WorldSeriesDreaming today, and sometime between tomorrow and June 4th, I will have a draft preview up.

Doug, what will the Cubs do with their 6th pick? TheoJed say power pitching would be nice what do you think?

Doug Padilla (2:13 PM)

Would be nice to see them get the lefty Max Fried out of Harvard-Westlake HS in California. Saw him throw at Wrigley yesterday and he has a big arm. Warming up he threw one from the well in RF all the way to the foul line behind third base. Lean lanky kid. Kershaw-like.

Interesting.

The Cubs can theoretically spend up to 5% more than that without incurring a draft pick forfeiture penalty.
