Working on details. Matt Carle is closing in on a deal with Tampa Bay Lightning.

Carle to TB confirmed, 6 years $5.5 million per year. Another huge contract.

That's a little more than I was wanting to pay for him. I thought he'd be a 4.75-5 type guy.

Man these salaries are exploding.

Glad it wasn't to the Hawks. Overpaid and I expect to see a decline in play that will disappoint new fans. Even though for Tampa this is decent bcuz their defense is god awful.

I really hope there is no interest between the two parties. Would just be another terrible contract. So much skill but no heart.

 Fire and passion and stuffz

Alexander Semin NHL Statistics | Hockey-Reference.com

Please note that he has been in Washington his whole career and probably needs a change of scenery. For not having any heart he has a pretty good slashline. OPS and DPS solid, PP goals, been to the playoffs etc etc.

Unbelievable.

Anyway. I will gladly take Semin all day long.

When I take a look at the Blackhawks offense I see plenty of skill. Skill isn't the issue with the offense/team, just take a look at goals for last year. Would he help? Of course he would. I think the Blackhawks would be better off using the money (which I'm guessing would be a pretty penny) on other players that will fill more of a hole/need.

Carle is probably their best Dman right now. So that is why I say it is a good deal for Tampa, even it overpaid in my mind. The Blackhawks didn't need to overpay for a Dman like Carle, who definitely wouldn't be the Blackhawks best Dman.
