the whole point is who gives a flying fuck how many hits he has as FT stated your ops + blows, ops blows, a very ehh OBP if you want to just look at that, his lack of power, his bad defense....i mean fuck, juan pierre had a lot of hits....who cares?

Dew Castro is a proven major league player who hits major league pitching.

Baez is on the DL and before that made 3 errors and hit .154.

Baez at this point has proven to be a worse SS than Castro. 40 errors last year.

The reality here is Baez needs to hit AAA pitching to even get called up. As we saw with Brett Jackson's flop this is not a walk in the park. After that he has to adjust to the 3rd deck and major league pitching. As we saw with Rizzo in SD how that can go. And last year his hitting was subpar.

Even if he progresses he still has not proven he can handle SS. To put it simply his D blows.

So right now you stick with a sure thing vs a not sure thing. Even then Baez's projects anywhere on the diamond if it develops. The is still an if.

That is why you are an idiot F/T

24 YO. So 12 years from the drop off age of 36.

Start of the year: 692 career hits.

3000 - 692 = 2308

So he would have to Avg 192 hits to make it to 3000 at 36.

But that is the age of 36.

His career BA is .283 Avg AB per year sense his first full year = 662
.283 * 662 = 187.346

I see it as as long he keeps his career pace and stays healthy he can hit 3k.

So again haters will hate huna?

LOL. I love how you just assume he'll play until the age of 36 and average 188 hits a season. How many SS's produce like that until the age of 36?

Also have to love the assumed consistency of a player who has been anything but consistent during his MLB career. I mean sure let's assume another decade and a half of consistent performance out of an inconsistent player to put him near 3000 hits!

/Cubs logic.

Here's mine, I'm not afraid.

Coming from the guy who is here to talk baseball, this is humorous.

Since Blurricane has been old enough to be a Cubs fan, he has witnessed (4) playoff appearances. How bad can this guy really have it?

I am twice his age and have witnessed (5).

It's no wonder why some of the youth have the patience that they do since the Cubs average going to the playoffs 1 in every 3 to 4 years. With old guys like me, it averages out to be 1 in every 10. :smug2:

I expect him to play until he is 40. or an avg of 144 hits per year to make it. Well below his career worst 163 hit year.

Keep on pushing your hate sport.

How many post/pre steroid hitters are putting up 144 hits ages 35+?

It does not factor out the steroid era

So at least 6 per yr. Getting at least 144 hits..
That actually pretty good , considering there not many every day players over 35.

Hell
So at least 6 per yr. Getting at least 144 hits..
That actually pretty good , considering there not many every day players over 35.

Check the list out. It's more like one non-steroid/superstar that does it per year.

Here's mine, I'm not afraid.

Coming from the guy who is here to talk baseball, this is humorous.

Seeing that you're all feasting on the thread I've created for you, my job appears to have worked.

You clowns have been free to trash me at whatever cost so as far as I'm concerned I'm free to do the same. I just go where the trolls ain't, and for now, my act is mostly at CBS.

No pictures on your page, interesting.

or realize that Mike Olt isn't that good?

I'll admit I was being a little overdramatic at this one. I was just a little surprised at how half-hearted Olt's postgame interview with Len Kasper was.

I still believe he has the ability to hit for power with a crummy average, but if Baez is indeed as good as advertised, Olt won't be long for the Cubs.

The is still an if.

ok. miscommunication. yes castro is much more proven than baez. that i agree with you on, hell baez hasnt proved shit. my point is i think castro is a bit overrated by cubs fans. sorry i was skimming from my phone and just looking at certain posts.

I find the opposite. Most say he is garbage. Both have agendas

Castro, I have read way more posters say he sucks from multiple message boards over him being just overated.

Castro, I have read way more posters say he sucks from multiple message boards over him being just overated.

He is not perfect for sure. But he hits and can make some flashy plays at short. He does make errors and he will avg 35 BB in 700 PA.

As long as he can keep his errors around 20 and put up a .280+ BA he gives value to the team. If he is hitting .270 or lower than he is not.

They are already giving playing time to Barney who is a brick at the plate. They can not afford to have 2.

But so far this year he seems to be going back to his pre-Dale production. If he sustains it it is up to him to do so. Not us making claims either way.

Pre-Dale:
2010: .300/.347/.408 29 BB
2011: .307/.341/.432 35 BB

Dale years where they tried to make him less aggressive to increase BB
2012: .283/.323/.430 36 BB
2013: .245/.284/.347 30 BB

Ya that was a fail and was a big reason why Dale got shit canned.

After Theo letting him go back to his old ways
2014: .300/.327/.460 2 BB

See a trend here? He is an aggressive hitter. He walks little but he makes plenty of contact. He is not perfect but he is good at what he does. They tried to make him something he was not and his production took a nose dive.
