I remember when a handful of people on here tried saying myself and a few others were wrong for stating that Emery bringing Jay into the finalist meetings wasn't a big deal, that it didn't say much about Cutler's future. Well, I(we) stated that you don't bring in one person to sit in on meetings like that to be apart of hiring a piece of puzzle if gm didn't think he was a vital piece moving forward.

Well, 7 years.. Gotta say that we were right. Damn, I can't even believe it was an argument people were thinking Emery bringing in Cutler for interview process wasn't a big deal. lolzz

I would have been fine with a contract that at least acknowledged the possibility that he is not the answer at QB, which is a very reasonable consideration, but in this case they've pretty much entitled him to something he hasn't earned in the least. I seriously have to question a GM and coach that can look at Jay Cutler and all the plays that he leaves on the field and say. "Hey, let's give that guy 7 years and 50m guaranteed."

I just can't trust a front office that willing to put all their chips on Jay Cutler.

Yeah, that's the biggest change that's happened for me today. My confidence in Emery was dropping for a while but today it just plummeted.

I've never heard of an ostrich burger.

I can understand signing Jay.

Not sure why they sign him for 7 years.

I definitely can't understand/justify what they're paying him, he just hasn't proved himself to be worth that. Didn't Cutler say he was willing to take a cut for the team?

Please, I hope I can get a response from someone who's more mature than their 10 year old kid.

That explains everything. Go watch all of Seinfeld to see their 2 random points of ostrich burger mentions.

Yep, up until today I had confidence in Emery, but now I have little. Handcuffing himself and the team to Jay in just plain stupid. He better hope Jay suddenly morphs into something other than Jay Cutler because if not he and Trestman may be looking for a job in the next couple of years.

It's not 7 years. It's essentially 3 years and then decide if you want to cut him and take a small cap hit. The sooner you realize that the better.

Response to the only question you pose? You'll be waiting a while unless Emery reads these boards.

I rather them not need yet another three years to realize that Cutler is what he is; the sooner everyone realizes that the better. My main problem with this situation is that I fear they won't draft a QB at all now, meaning the job is Jay's no questions asked for the foreseeable future; I would have liked to see the team in a position to move on from him after the 2014 season if need be.

Also, since they have now handcuffed themselves to Jay, if in three years Jay hasn't worked out that'll also mean times up for Emery and Trestman... Meaning we will be starting over from square one since they didn't give themselves a chance to distance themselves from Cutler.

Ugh, contracts like those are roughly what he's worth. Have you seen quarterback contracts lately? I don't even get why people are upset about it. It doesn't kill the cap space and its decent market value with an option to dump him after a few years if we have his replacement.

I got you covered buddy, here is the plan. I have two and half more years of school with to finish my sports management degree. By then London will probably have a NFL team. I will get hired over there, and bring you along and get you a job.

I really hope we don't draft a QB this year. We have two QB's now more than capable of running the system, why even waste the pick on a rookie QB when we have so many holes to fill
