I was always of the frame of mind that Jay would be coming back, just not 7 motherfucking years!!!

Man I hope you fanboys are all correct and I'm totally wrong ....

Cheers  or puff puff pass :smoke:

Lets Bear Down now.

You can always puff puff pass...
Especially in Denver now... which has been fucking out of this world for my marijuana stocks... which are moving big time... one is up almost 300 percent...

3 years at 18 million a year,:lmao: contracts like these get people fired!

And after the three years of no championships and everyone realizes Cutler is who he is, Forte and Marshall will be past their prime. I would really have liked to see them win it with the Bears but there's no chance of that now.

Looking at Rodgers contract as an example, I am thinking that 35 million of the guaranteed money is SB bonus and the rest of the guarantees are roster bonuses or guaranteeing the first 3 years of base salary in the contract.

So you can do base salaries of 5 million, 7 million, 7 million in the first 3 years all guaranteed along with 35 million in SB for a total 54 million over 3 years or 18 million a year. That would result in cap hits of 12 million, 14 million, 14 million for the first 3 years.

His base salary for the next 4 years could be 11 million, 11 million, 25 million, 25 million yielding cap hits of 18 million, 18 million, 25 million and 25 million. However, the trick here is that after the first 3 years, you can just convert base salary into a signing bonus like they did with Peppers and reduce the cap hit for years 4 and 5 to something like 14 million again.

Just because Cutler got a seven year contract doesn't mean he'll be playing here for seven years. And just because the contract is $126mil doesn't mean he's going to see all of that. Between Emery and Stein's cap savvy and Cutler being explicitly clear that he wants to win, I trust that this won't be a burdensome albatross.

I don't care how savvy he is, that's a whole lot of cash for slightly above avg play.

I just hope Jay is a late bloomer, because the Bears need more out of him, IMO.

The peppers cap problems are from a contract that was restructured too many times, putting off cap hits over and over.

Holy crap...19 pages? yea...not gonna read all of that...but I guess I was wrong. Thought the Bears would walk away. Well, I'll be there every Sunday cheering for Jay as the Bears QB and I will be there rooting for McCown as well if he needs to come in. Bear down. Now, I hope we can get rid of Tucker

I'm also curious if there will be any incentives or anything that have to be met for max payout. Perhaps something dealing with his possible durability issues.

I'm not sure if something like that is likely but I'm still reserving some judgment until the details come out.

He is not a late bloomer. He is who he is. Which I'm ok with, just not that price. But I guess that's the going rate these days for QBs. It's not my money. Hope we work on the defensive side of the ball as well.

for people who say "he is who he is" or "Jay will never change", how do you explain his jump in comp%?

Transition from a offense based on principals of deep vertical attacking routes to a balanced approach and a tight end that can catch.

Because he's in a WCO with arguably the best group of skill position players in the game. Josh McCown's comp % was even higher.

aha, so its the system that caused the improvement?

maybe next year the system will cause his TD/INT ratio to change

I'm fine with crediting the system if it means better QB play
