How is that fair for both sides? He was able to play a full 9 out of 16 games in 2 out of his last 3 seasons and we have no protection if he does that again in the next 3 seasons?

Anyone can get hurt.

None of his injuries have been repeats or chronic problems.

If he gets hurt we are screwed, both on the field and financially. So are every other good team with a good QB.

No, he's only injured repeatedly and suffered multiple concussions.

You were quick to turn on other players who got hurt this past season and haven't had near as many injuries as Cutler.

In 2 out of those 3 seasons, he was being pummeled behind the worst O-Lines in the NFL. This past season was a fluke injury.

Don't get it twisted. I have my concerns, as well. I just think that his positives outweigh the negative concerns that I have.

So, he's old and beat up.

That doesn't exactly help the "he's not injury prone" argument.

In the mod forum planning your ban
Do you root for a second team?

And why are you tasting my tears?

No second team and your tears flow like the Nile

It seems like we are paying him more over the next 3 years than even the fanboys said would be appropriate in recent treads, with much greater damage to cap space than originally anticipated. What was the theory that a longer term contract would help our cap space? Unless Windy City and others are wrong, I am not seeing it. And this is our hometown discount, wow.

I think he was worth more on the market, so we actually got a discount

You are exactly right. The deal is not all cap friendly in the first 3 years and a cap killer in the first year. I, too, remember fanboys suggesting it would be just 14 or 15 mil. Everybody was way off. Concerned about how much the D can be helped now.

I don't know, W1ndy City is our expert on this stuff, and he said last week in a post that fair value for Cutler is 15-17 million a year. We are paying 18, with the discount and hitting the cap with 22 first year.

As has been pointed out by others, it's really a 3 year deal. After that Bears can let him go and take no cap hit for doing so.
