So I guess now Kane isn't resigning with Chicago since Keslet was dealt elsewhere right?

He has the legendary TT to play with....why would he ever want to leave? Didn't you see what he did at the Jr tournament...or in Europe?

<strike>1. Kesler</strike>

2. Stastny

You realize I'm in the boat for keeping TT right? Ive seen him play in person and I was very impressed with his vision and playmaking. He's got the skills you can't teach or find very easily. And his first 3 years will be better for the cap than say Kesler or Spezza. Especially with Kane and Toews wanting so much.

Better hope so

Because as of now...Toews gets to line up vs -

Getzlaff/Kesler

Kopitar/Carter

Thornton/Pavelski

Duchene/OReilly

No wonder he's beat to shit by the end of every year. Rest of Hawk centers are all 5'10 180lbs soaking wet

So..."you'll know you have a decent player" - based on 3 nhl games. And "maybe two years of Kesler" - when he's 100% signed for 2 years?

Maybe...Kesler signs an extension and you get him longer?

Here's facts.

Kesler would immediately become the second most important forward the Hawks have behind Toews. He becomes the only other forward the Hawks have that can play in every single situation. Will TT? Nope.

He's a point producer. TT? Maybe

He's one of the best defensive center iceman (Selke winner). Immediately will be on the PK. Take every important RH faceoffs. TT? Nope

Can play on the PP. Half boards (like he did in the Olympics) and Front of net (like he does for VAN). TT? Perimeter

Immediately has on and off ice chemistry with you most skilled forward. TT? Maybe

All the hard minutes Toews has...can now be cut in half by having a second center that can physically handle everything Toews does. Thats a fact based on someone that has done it consistantly in the NHL.

Let him go to ANA. Let me know how the matchup is when they have Getzlaf vs Toews then Kesler vs TT. Or STL....Backes and Kesler. We saw LA with Kopitar and Carter - 2 more big centers.

And when Toews takes his 8-10 games off due to getting hurt (like every year..because he takes the heaviest load of centers on the Hawks, because no one else can)...Hawks will then have TT, Shaw and Kruger - all 5'10 centers - to fill in.

But 4 years down the road, they may have a good player.

Compelling and rich insight...oh well. Next?

Also, who was this year's GM of the year...exactly!

How are the Hawks supposed to get Kesler with only 2.5 million in cap space? Sharp has a NMC and NTC, Bickell has a modified NTC. Leddy is the only "moveable" defensemen, and I don't think that's such a great idea at this point unless you got something ready for NHL action which we don't.

As I was saying all along, Shaw and/or Leddy could have been traded for Kesler. One of them would have been fine, but both would have for sure given us enough cap space. Maybe Stan tried to trade both though, who knows.

This is pretty much the equivalent of what Anaheim gave them, and something I've been talking about the past few days, but apparently I was the crazy one. It was the most logical scenario, period. Not Sharp, or any big contract. This is what Vancouver was looking for.

We'll find out the reports about what Stan was offering soon enough.

I'm warming to the idea of moving Leddy, but it's not the most ideal. Hawks are in need of a 2nd line center, but what's new? Is a 2nd line c really that much of a glaring weakness? Especially since we were a fluke goal away from the SC finals? I don't think so. I think people are blowing a lot of this out of proportion and Twitter is a fucking nightmare with all the bowman hate.

It's time for Bowman to put on his big boy pants and acquire a second line center. It's not hatred.

By now we should have "developed" a true second line center in Rockford. That didn't happen.

Unfortunately Bolland was drafted to be that guy and his body gave out and now he appears to be overpaid damaged goods.

On the Towes/Kane contract front I think Toews will take Crosby like money whereas Kane will want Malkin money.

Agreed. Unless you're comfortable with giving up Saad and Leddy, plus all those picks, there's nothing Bowman could have done to top Anaheims deal. That's what it comes down to.

I'd still like them to make a play for Stastny. I'm not all that interested in Spezza. Thornton could be good though.

Players get moved all The time with no trade/movement clauses

This has been some of the best centers made available that I can remember

B-b-but it's Kesler!!! It's a travesty we didn't get him!!! Our season is over!!!

I've never seen a fan base ***** about a successful team like Hawks fans.

2 cups in 4 years. Conference finals loss this year in game 7 and the same team again next year.

Agreed. And to the Hawks credit, they are all over it. But there are a lot of restrictions involved and I honestly don't blame Stan (yet)... let's see if they can dig up his final offer before we bash him for incompetence. We are all smart hockey fans here (which is why I love this site: not a shameless plug, truth)... most of us have good judgement on that.

Yeah but with those clauses it lessens the value of the return due to only a select few teams getting to bid, instead of 29.

That's great that the center pool is so talented, but we ain't got the money to invest in them.
