Deal is a 1 year, 2-way contract for just less than $800k. From what I gather it sounds like he might be a bigger, stronger version of Nordstrom. Pretty low risk signing, especially if he has a 2-way contract.

Just adds more depth to our center prospect pool. Was 10th in SHL scoring. One year project essentially.

It's tied to league revenue, always been like that since the salary cap was instituted. It's in the CBA and has some fancy formula to calculate the cap for every season. The owners and the NHLPA signed off on the CBA, so they are bound by it so they can't do any funny business.

...like keeping parking revenues under the United Center instead of the Blackhawks, selling blocks of tickets on the secondary market where the profit doesn't count as hockey-related revenue, pay back "loans" to yourself so your books show the team in the red despite selling out 200+ times in a row and having sweet TV and radio deals...

I am sure all of that was discussed when the latest CBA was hammered out on what is HRR and what isn't and the owners got what they wanted. If some message board posters can see the shenanigans, I am sure the lawyers and accountants who were involved with the CBA can see it too and brought it up during the negotiations.

There's better language in there than there was in the old CBA, but there are still holes big enough that Dustin Byfuglien could skate through them.

Playing with a broken foot isn't that crazy. The boot itself on a skate will help keep everything in place. No different than an ankle injury and the boots stability.

Now, playing on a severed leg... That would be crazy.
