Pokka #34 overall 2012 pick

Brennan is a career AHL player

Nillson was the Isles back-up last year in goal and is playing in the KHL this years signed with AK Bars Kazan.

Looks like we got a decent prospect and salary dump

Nillson is a RFA, maybe he can be coaxed back from the KHL to play on a cup contender as backup?

Brennan is actually decent, just older at 25 than most prospects, adds good AHL depth. Nillson will stay in KHL. Pure salary dump IMO. His stats are underwhelming

They did get cap wiggle room. Still, not what I had in mind when I was advocating a Leddy trade all summer.

Pokka is apparently a very solid prospect and now TT has a Finnish pal in RFD.

Leddy was pretty damn crucial for possession and especially zone entries. That third pairing could be a fucking train wreck this season.

Well, unless they were going to add another player, or two (Bickell, Versteeg - who both had decent camps - or someone else with a healthy K), what could we expect, but prospects.

I expected better prospects and or picks I guess. Pokka could be the next Lidstrom though....

Guessing that means TVR isn't going to be on the team.

What a shit offseason for the Hawks. That's what happens when you wait until the last fucking minute to make any moves, I suppose.

Trade one useless plug and sign one that is even worse....

Keeps signing and re-signing the same type of garbage players only to move them later when it's evident (again) they provide the Hawks with nothing whatsoever. This will be the third swing and a miss on Carcillo alone. Bollig, John Scott, Carcillo x3 now. Why even bother?

The trade in reality isn't that bad.

Every team and their mother knew the Hawks needed to get under the cap, so there goes part of any power you had in negotiations. The Hawks add a stud defenseman prospect who isn't your typical European shutdown guy the Hawks have been drafting. The kid has some actual hockey skill and was up for best D man last year in the Finnish Elite league.

While I like Leddy and think we took a loss, at the end of the day he's not a 3rd pairing defensemen. He's a top 2 offensive Dman who moves the puck well and has great speed. On this Hawks team his spot is already filled by Keith and we have Clendening in the minors who is going to take his place soon.

Is it the return we all wanted? No, but what can you expect when the teams over the cap? Had they traded him in the summer, they might have gotten less. At least the isles decided to go full on playoff mode and are going all in.

Shit off season?

They got Richards who is a 2nd line C to play with Kane and Saad. They had to get rid of someone and Leddy was the most realistic to get back the best return.

We added Carcillo as our 13th forward, who gives a ****? Everyone acts like he's awful when in reality he has more skill than Bollig and can play a regular shift. Sure he plays over the line sometimes, but he's a 4th line grinder. The Hawks have always made it known they want a guy like him in the lineup. Don't like it? Watch the Redwings. Can't say 2 cups in 3 years is really doing a lot wrong.
