Holy shit what a game. And for one day I'll take back all the awful things I've said about TJ Oshie.

  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I think everyone here knows my feelings on the shootout, but I gotta admit the one today was pretty damn entertaining. Oshie is pretty good at it. I was wondering about Kaner as well but frankly, he's been just brutal in shootouts this season. I liked the decision to keep Oshie out there. I also never realized how good Kesler is on faceoffs.....there was one where he moved a guy over about 10' from where he lined up, then drew the puck directlly where he moved the guy to. Pretty damn impressive.

Here's one vote for the NHL to move to a bigger ice surface like the Olympics....it really opens up the game, putting a bigger emphasis on skill and speed and less on bulk and grit.

Pierre had to constantly bring up North Dakota.

Think any diehard hockey fan knew where Oshie & Toews played college hockey at.

Pierre knows a lot more than diehard hockey fans were watching. And probably a helluva lot of people who never knew who TJ Oshie was before today... Or knew that Toews went to North Dakota.

Agreed. These are the moments that help grow the sport. I'm sure there were a lot of people watching one of their first games, or using this as an attempt to get into the sport more.

Um, not my point. The guy doesn't need to remind people over & over & over.

My entire Twitter timeline is full of people talking about hockey. That never happens.

Your point acts as if your his target audience. It's narrowminded and dense...

Trying to teach people and inform them of stuff they aren't aware of is central to what he needs to do.

I agree that the international ice surface could definitely make the game more exciting. The players are bigger, stronger, and faster than ever before. However, I just don't see it happening for 2 reasons...1. Could every stadium support a larger ice surface? 2. Do the owners want to give up revenue (seats) to have a larger ice surface.

You could implement it as a future endeavorto take place as a transition if they didn't mind some rinks being unproportionate again like in the past.

we got a little lucky their on the post being bumped a 1/4 inch. I'll take it if it means we don't have to face them again, if Canada were to eliminate them on the other side or something.

Kane needs to look at the pace at which Oshie scores, and then make his own variation where he at least changes pace and has a counter move. Kaner could learn a lot from him, however, the way Kane does it is game speed because you should have someone on your tail and only a fraction of a second to get your shot off. He sacrifices % for speed, and thats good on break aways, but he needs to **** around more with goalies and do double and triple moves with change up shots and all kinds of other intricacies he has to learn for shoot-outs.

with Russia's 0-0 tie against Slovakia our offense is looking better. Russia had the home ice and seemed to dominate us much of the game, I was a little worried, but have to be feeling good about the scoring output and the goalies we have.

Personally, I would keep playing Quick against teams first time through, but if we played Russia again I would throw Miller as a change up and change the dynamic of the game a little before they get comfortable facing Quick. If it was 2012 it would be a no brainer for Quick, but we know what to expect from Miller and though he isn't what he once was you know you are getting A goal tending. With Quick right now you throw dice on somewhere between a B and an A+

I know the referees are bound by the IIHF rules, so that goal had to be disallowed. But that's a dumb rule.

USA and Czech Republic in the quarterfinals ... the Czechs have some good players but I don't think they can hang with Team USA. Should be a 2 or 3-goal victory, IMO.

Should be a good game and I am looking forward to watching it in a couple of hours. USA is favored but it is really a game that could go either way. Tell me that USA won by 3+ and I won't be surprised. Tell me that Czech won and I won't be surprised...surely disappointed but not surprised. Quality talent on both teams and in a best of 1 series, anything can happen.

Great first period, ending with a huge goal with 1.8 seconds left. USA leading 3 - 1 end of first.

Love the line of Callahan/Backes/Brown - what a pain in the ass to play against those three. I have a complete man crush on the style of hockey that Backes plays. Love watching him play.

I'm glad they stopped trying to mix Parise on that line and bulk it like a legit checking line.

Didn't click yet but Kane was close to hitting Parise for a good chance.
