Well, Im not sure if the NBA just tried to rig the GS-Philly game but GS just beat Philly on a last second 3 by Barnes.

Philly outscored them by 15 in the 4th.

Craziest stat GS attempted 2 free throws the whole game. Count them: 2 free throws. Its happened only like once or twice since 66-67. The Sixers had 21 attempts. In a league full of touch fouls especially for superstars how da fuq does GS attempt 2 free throws all game.

Absolutely insane. That would have been one of the biggest upsets just based off record.

Jeff hornacek fired in Phoenix. Seems a bit harsh, IMO.

Saw that coming. He seemed to have lost the team this year for whatever reason.

They got shafted by a few injuries, but they were bad even before that. Not that surprising to me.

but if they were already that bad of a team, then is it really the coach that should be blamed and kicked to the curb? not saying hes popovic but hornacek seemed like a decent head coach from what I saw(granted not a ton).

He made the same roster into a near playoff team last year, but they fell off a cliff this year. Scott Skiles effect perhaps? Or maybe they were missing that 3rd PG...the real secret to the Hornacek offense lol

yeah, but if I recall correctly...last year they had dragic and traded him at the deadline. if I had to go out on a limb id say their record before that trade was a lot better than after the trade

Yeah they had Dragic and moved him. Can't remember if they did better before or after, but I don't think Dragic was so key that losing him takes them from a near playoff team in the West to a bottom feeder. Point of the matter is, most of the team is the same. Lost Dragic, added Chandler, traded Morris, drafted Booker. Might be slightly worse, but that shouldn't translate to them bombing the season. Of course now they're just terrible because they don't have Bledsoe, but they were already doing bad before then.

right, I guess I just look at it as....the suns roster wasn't that great to begin with and coaching had them playing solid and near an 8 seed in the west. kind of playing above their capability IMO. then they get rid of dragic and Bledsoe goes down and they really suck all of a sudden. just seems more like their roster coming back down to reality to me than a coaching issue....but of course its easier to fire a coach than the entire roster of players sooooo off jeff goes

It's always the coach that gets the initial axe, that's just how it is, like you said. Imo, I think post Dragic they were still better than they were pre Bledsoe injury so that would feed more into why Hornacek got fired, but certainly you can say the team got worse after trading Dragic and were just overachieving. It just seems like a lot of overachieving to me since they went from a near 8 seed to a bottom feeder. And again, this is without the Bledsoe injury.

Either way, sucks for Hornacek, but I think he could get a gig elsewhere based on his performance prior to this year.

agreed, I always liked him as a player and he always seemed like the type that would end up a coach one day. who knows, maybe hes the next HC of the bulls :troll: :smug:

He would probably do no worse than the mayor

yeah, the mayor was doomed before he ever walked through the door IMO. first year HC taking over a team full of veterans its going to be hard to come in and command respect. then throw in the fact that the roster only has like 3 guys that really fit what he wants to do offensively and it was a mess to start with. but that's what happens when the FO goes out and gets their buddy to take over as HC instead of getting the right guy

I always hated Hornacek and his stupid ass forehead wipe thing he did when he shot free throws. Gross. Still feel for him though, I liked him much more as a coach, didn't think he was bad, but then again not like I was keeping up to date on the Suns. He has a future somewhere else though

Hornicek whiped the side of his face if I recall. And it was a gesture that meant hello to his family if I remember right. His face always did bother me though.

Didn't he shoot like 94% from the line one season? Shit, maybe we all should start wiping our faces before shooting free throws.
