I'm a pretty big Johns fan. If he doesn't make the team, then Q is probably still drunk from the parade.

You probably like the truck stop "johns" more....

We're not winning another cup if Runbad will be playing regularly.

Do you think Johns is ready?

I haven't seen him play to be honest, but from what I've heard and read he's got as good a chance as any to make the team.

By all account, the Hawks front office is quite enamored with Johns. Q even hinted during the postseason that, had Johns not suffered an injury in the Hogs' final playoff game, he would've suited up in the playoffs this year.

They just won a Cup with Rundblad on the roster. Let's not go off that deep end yet.

The only reason he was even playing was the fact Rosy got injured. Q had no choice but to play him.

Fact of the matter is, I can't trust him with a full roster spot just yet, and I don't think Q would either. I'm thinking Johns has a better shot to make a 4-6 spot if Oduya isn't signed.

Stalberg getting waived

Color me surprised.

Rundblad isn't going to get a full roster spot. No way in hell. He's a 7th Dman, and one with some upside. The deal is fine when viewed in context.

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Johns
Pokka/Paliotta/Svedberg-TVR

I would be surprised if Rundblad didn't get a chance for full playing time.

He has:

-The most NHL experience
-Flashes of potential
-Improves every year
-Isn't really that bad

Q likes experience, they eased him in this year and he did a decent job. I think he will get more of an opportunity next year.

Think everyone is just reaching on Rundblad because he is a member of the Blackhawks. Can guarantee if he was on the other side of the ice that people wouldn't be trying to talk him up and would instead be saying "Blackhawks should pressure his side of the ice every single time out there". He is weak with the puck, he is weak on his skates, he is tentative in the corner, he turns the puck over, he is weak 1 on 1. The only thing I can say good about Rundblad is that he has a good low snapshot. Not what you want out of your #6/7 guy...want a guy who you don't even know is out there. Rundblad gets noticed a lot when he is out there.

Luckily, the Blackhawks still have one of the best top 3 heading into next season and there is time to sign a veteran Dman and maybe even a rookie to step up in a big way like TVR did in camp last year. Still plenty of hope but shouldn't be casting it in Rundblad's direction.

I can't help but think Stan is going to sign the soon to be unsigned 35 year old B. Jackman for a low price to be on the 3rd pairing.

No ones talking him up, no one is reaching... everyone has said 6/7 defenseman.

He has experience. He's young. He's cheap. And he has potential to improve.

It would be a smart move if they can get him for cheap. He is the type of guy you want out there as your number 5/6 guy. Isn't fast, isn't flashy, took a bad penalty sometimes (a lot of Blues did) but he can clear the net, plays nasty, blocks shots, can help on the PK, and is capable of 15 minutes a night.

I think Rundblad is more likely the 7-8 guy who'll end up spending some time this season down in Rockford. And once we get to the playoffs, Q tends to only use 5 guys anyway. Granted, that may have to change slightly this year.

Rundblad's not what I could call a "good" defenseman. But if anyone else has a better suggestion of a 6/7/8 Dman that's available for $1 million, let's hear it.
