It's curious Oduya doesn't seem to be "out there" much in UFA talk

I wonder if he's hanging around to see if/when Sharp/Bickell go...freeing up some money for him to come back at a friendly team deal.

That would be nice.

There just was a report, from Eklund.... ... but that Oduya has an offer, was getting interest from LA/Det but may be holding off accepting the good offer he has by seeing if he can get a deal from Chicago.

Desjardins also is supposedly fielding interest then going to cycle back to see if Chicago has something for him... honest I don't really want him back. if it's no more tan 800K maybe, but I'd rather his role go to one of the Rockford Files

I would take Desjardins back. I thought he was a really good fit for the 4th line and gave us depth.

I'd rather see him, than have Q roll out another Nordstrom half the year.

Agreed here too. I kinda liked the guy on the 4th line.

Losing Saad will very much hurt the future of the Blackhawks. The guy is heading for stardom and they lost his future as a viable star in the NHL.

Thanks little one. I feel much better about the situation now that I know what you think about it.

And if Dano becomes a future star just like Saad?

Is this a serious question?

It's not a question, it's a statement... and yes it's serious.

Would you rather have Vermette or Anisimov? It's not even close.

One player can win a faceoff, is a natural center, and has scored 60+ points before in his career.

The other player is injury prone, never reached 50 points, and can't win a faceoff.

You can figure it out.

At the end of his contract, Anisimov won't be as old as Vermette is right now. I think the Hawks are working on getting bigger and younger. Vermette right now, yes....I'd prefer him. But in a year or so, maybe not. Also that new contract doesn't kick in till 16-17, so Anisimov plays this year on his ongoing contract however much that is.

I think it boils down to who Q wanted.

It's $3.3M... Vermette signed for $3.75M for 2 years.

A couple things here that you have to consider.

First one that nobody ever seems to consider is...what did Vermette want to do? Quite frankly, maybe he wanted to go back to Arizona, where he is comfortable, and he took their money over the Blackhawks. The players simply don't take the most money, go to the team that is "best", etc...there are a lot of other factors that go into it. I don't get why people say "why didn't the Blackhawks get him at that price?!?!" because they could have offered but the player declines and wants to go elsewhere...it happens!

Second one is that AA signed an extension that will kick in next year and obviously Vermette's is for now.

Vermette could of taken that salary from a team with a chance to win the next 2 seasons. Arizona is one of the few teams it seems pretty certain they aren't in a great position to succeed next year. It seems he wants to go back there as it's like he would of moved yet, it really is still a hometown signing discount.

Age and what a player once was is still a factor. He has the draw skill for sure but maybe he didn't even want to come back to Chicago. Despite it settling down later if he picked up on the clue of how it is to deal with Q, he knows that Q is going to still be hard on him as he is on any center with his demands and his role will switch around all season in a hecktic way. Back on Arizona he's on both special teams units again in a settled role that he knows.
