Yeah....how bout them Swedish young defenders?

They better be beyond legit to throw Johns/Palliota out the door like trash.

Here's what I can find stats wise on Panarin...

In games that had a 5 goal difference (blow out) he had 12 points in those 6 games. In two of those games he didn't score a point, so he scored 12 of his 62 in 4 games.

In 4 or more goal difference games, he scored 16 in 10 games.

He scored 37 points in games that had a 2 goal differential, which was 37 games.

In games that they lost (which wasn't a lot at a total of 15) he had 8 points.

18 games resulted in him having 2 or more points (total of 44 points in those 18 games) so he scored the other 18 points in 36 games.

Use the numbers as you wish.

Basically just shows stats wise in the KHL he benefited quite a bit playing on one of the best teams in the league and with Kovalchuk.

So you all are comfortable trading Johns, Sharp, and Oduya for Daley and Garbutt?

Why?

I wouldn't trade Oduya for Daley and Garbutt. I wouldn't trade Johns alone for Daley and Garbutt. I woke up and realized WE PAID THEM to take Sharp. WE PAID THEM Johns.

Daley is probably the same defensively as Oduya, but brings more of an offensive game. Garbutt is a toss in since we gave up Johns. I liked Johns potential, but who knows how he turns out

One time in his career!! I really think if Daley goes back to his career trajectory and Oduya keeps improving that its Oduya who has the higher offensive upside in the future. I liked what I was seeing from him pushing forward in the playoffs.

Daley is not the same defensively as Oduya. Don't know if you are overrating Daley or underrating Oduya here...but he isn't the same and it really isn't that close.

Are you sure you're not overrating Oduya? I think their somewhat similar. Oduya gets the bump in the defensive category, but Daley has more offense to his game. I liked Oduya, but to say he's better than Daley doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Oduya is 33 years old, he's not going to get better. If anything he's already peaked.

I always thought of Daley as a pretty good top 4 defenseman with puck moving ability.

I think he'll fit in nicely with the Hawks scheme of what they like on D. Oduya was in similar standing before he came to the Hawks, IMO.

I think it makes plenty of sense. Oduya didn't bring much offensively but he was very solid defensively, doing it against the other teams top line most nights, blocking shots, and playing a solid PK part. Daley is going to bring another aspect to the Blackhawks, contribute offensively and with speed, but saying that they are "probably the same defensively" just isn't close to accurate. I think Daley will be just fine when it comes to slotting into the #4/5 spot here, but he just isn't as good defensively as Oduya was. Just because Daley is on the Blackhawks and Oduya isn't, doesn't mean that he is simply better...

He can play the point on the power play as well as kill penalties. He blocks shots and actually controls the puck better than Oduya by evident of less give always and more take always.
