And yet his BB% was essential identical between his road & away splits from 2016-2017. You are arguing something that is not supported at all by the data. If he was really more wild, why didn't it manifest itself in a higher walk rate?
His walk rate was 3.5-4 which is still bad. 3/4 arm slot has more left to right movement. Over the top your movement is more high and low. Over the top works better with a 12-6 curve. 3/4 better with a slider.
Curve ball pitchers just fail in Denver. This is nothing new so he had to adapt or never progress.
So right now he has no control over his 4 seam. In season you can not make a major overhaul. A minor adjustment like moving to 1 side of the rubber is a minor adjust. Changing arm a lot is a major and requires redeveloping muscle memory and potential injury. Not to be taken lite.
My belief is his fastball is too active and needs to move less. That is a arm slot issue.
