Kintzler has 1.5 years of control. Hard to believe it's just low level minor leaguers. We'll just have to see.

Like I said it makes sense from the Cubs side to move Underwood and Maples. They are not a part of the plans. Mills also for that matter.

Question is what the Nats want? Are they just in short term for long term mode or are they looking for a prospect boost? On this deal I see plug and play types. If they were targeting prospects there are better partners

Looking closer the $10 mil next year is a club option but converts to a player option of $5 mil if the club declines, so basically a $5 mil buyout.

Archer to the Pirates

Update: Glasnow and Meadows head the deal

That frees up Harvey. Teams in on Archer were aiming Harvey 2. So this could go fast now.

I do think this requires a stronger offer by Theo now. Pirates need to be taken seriously all of a sudden vs a surging team.

IDK what the Reds would want but I would try to sell Chatwood with at least 1/2 of future cost covered. Or decide to deal Montgomery strait for him. That would be more of a open a roster spot.

I like the act Harvey is hitting 95 regular. That sets him apart from Hendricks.

I said this morning I had the Diamondbacks winning this division but this should tip it to the Dodgers and another Cubs-Dodgers NLCS

I would trigger it. Wilson and Strop are off. Need to bolster Clechik and Morrow. Edwards has been unstable. Wouldn’t be shocked if Theo deals him

Jim Bowden saying Harvey is likely staying put. Reds haven't liked any offers for him.

Brewers adding unneeded infielders and unable to add what they need SP..
Schoop

Ramos going to the Phillies

I would of liked to see the cubs add 1 more reliever or a starter so they can move Monty back to the pen

It would have had to be Russell or Happ to get Archer to get close to the Meadows return.

That damned Garza trade.........

Tired of seeing Eloy and Cease doing well for the south side.

Epstein kept all his bigger pieces and add 3 solid pitchers...
Bolds well for offseason moves, having all their bullets still

Well I would use Edwards in some fashion. Either trade or convert to start. He has been around long enough.

Why?

They have enough SP to choose from for next year over trying to convert Edwards into a starter again...
Lester Darvish Hendricks Quintana Hamels Chatwood Montgomery
Plus the rehab ones in Butler and Smyley..
So, they dont really need to convert Edwards

Not saying they wont cut ties with any of the above , just dont see it happening unless they bring in a younger and or better replacement..
Not a conversion

Not sure why you would want to trade him, he'll be 27 and has 5 controllable years left..
So unless he a difference maker in a big trade or his desire is to be a starter and the cubs want to play nice guys and appease him, he going nowhere

Eloy was never going to play for Chicago anyways. He's a LF only bat. Cubs have plenty of that. Now if you want to talk about Cease then sure he's more interesting to the cubs future. However, they still have control of Q for 2.5 years. Obviously he's not pitching that well since coming over but it's entirely possible he will.

Found it interesting that Rizzo of the Nats said he not giving up, yet he did nothing to improve his team like getting a much needed Catcher or SP..
