The Yankees fans on Twitter seem to think they fleeced the Cubs. Again…. I don’t follow baseball so no clue.

They were the number 9 and 12 prospects on MLB. com. Both seem a couple years away probably why they those goofballs think they won the trade.
Saw that. They seemed to think their farm system sucks

Vizcaino was nearly 19, elderly by international standards, when he signed for $14,000 out of the Dominican Republic in May 2016. After spending all but one game of his first three pro seasons in Rookie ball, where he didn't distinguish himself, he saw his fastball and changeup improve dramatically in 2019. He earned an invite to the Yankees' alternate site last summer and a spot on their 40-man roster in November.

Both Vizcaino's fastball and changeup earn double-plus grades when at their best. After previously working with a low-90s heater, he sat at 94-98 mph and reached triple digits in 2019. His low-90s changeup has splitter action and can be even more devastating than his fastball.

In order to remain a starter, Vizcaino will need to upgrade a low-80s slider that lacks consistency and devolves into a slurve too often. He showed better control during his 2019 breakout and still needs to refine his command. He could be a mid-rotation starter if he makes the necessary improvements or a late-inning reliever if he lands in the bullpen.

Younger and possessing a higher ceiling than most of the prospects in the 2018 international class, Alcantara signed out of the Dominican Republic for $1 million when he turned 16 on July 12. At the start of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League season in June 2019, he was the lone 16-year-old on a U.S.-based Minor League team. His only real development last year came at the Yankees' Dominican instructional league program.

Built like a younger Dexter Fowler, Alcantara now approaches 200 pounds and could have plus tools across the board once he fills out and gains more experience. His bat speed, projectable strength and leverage give him well above-average power from the right side of the plate and produce some of the highest exit velocities in the system. He made a reasonable amount of contact in his 2019 pro debut but will need to improve his discipline when he faces more advanced pitchers.

A plus runner, Alcantara covers plenty of ground in center field with long, fluid strides. If he slows down as he adds strength and needs to move to a corner, his solid arm strength would fit nicely in right field. Besides his tools, his baseball IQ and work ethic also earn praise from the Yankees.

I looked over on MLB. com and Alcantra rated the same as Davis in all categories except for hit and overall. Really intrigued with this kid.

You are going to celebrate every trade like I said you would…. Not suprised.

youre the one that claimed nobody would want rizzo. Instead not only did we find a buyer but we got their #9 and #12 for a guy that is about to be a FA and on the wrong side of 30. But sure….keep on about how the cubs got fleeced or whatever.

Alcantara is a pretty strong get for a rental of rizzo. He's roughly equivalent to Reginald Preciado who was the biggest prospect in the Darvish trade. He's got big power potential and his tools across the board are strong but his hit tool is lacking. But that's a similar view of Brennen Davis prior to being drafted and he's at a roughly similar age. He's probably roughly a top 100 prospect

This guy pounding his chest over every single prospect we get lol. We were always going to get something but to you we are getting starters for next year and fleecing everybody. You haven't said one bad thing about a single trade so far ?

One more comment... the cubs are really going to be interesting ins ~2 years. When you add Alcantara to the mix, you have Reginald Preciado, Cristian Hernandez, Howard, Owen Cassie, Kevin Made, Ismael Mena and several other really strong prospects in that 17-19 year old range. And similar to the last wave, they will all come to the majors roughly around the same time. Hopefully Davis will already be producing when they get there.

The one worry as always is pitching but with Hendricks likely staying and Alzolay showing he can be a rotation member this year you have 2 ok pieces to build off. Hopefully, over the next two years Marquez will take his lumps and develop into a third. Presumably Wicks could also be a 4th.

I'd still like to see a bit more interesting pitching in the forthcoming trades but the SS/3b/2B depth is really strong right now and Mena, Alcantara and Davis give 3 pretty strong CF/RF options.
