I don’t care what their rating is they suck defensively lol I agree you don’t need half a lineup of stud defenders, but they don’t have a single stud defender in the starting lineup. I think Ayo might be the best of the bunch but Zach, DeMar, Pat, and Vuc are all average and below and those guys could all be downright liabilities at times.
I mean, I'm pretty sure I saw Caruso get back cut at least 5 times vs Denver so even he, as our best defender, wasn't looking all that great either

I agree but Bulls can’t count on Lonzo. It sucks, but he’s never been able to stay healthy and that likely don’t change after yet another knee operation.
Lonzo's career is over

I’ve been getting killed for saying he’s a good defender, but way overrated.

Perhaps so, but in his defense (ha), the team did nothing to attempt to prevent Jokic from making any of those top of the key passes. The scheme did not work whatsoever and Jokic didn't even need to shoot the ball for Denver to demolish us

Agreed but overall I think he’s overrated on D, not just singling out yesterday. He tries, he hustles, he’s a good defender overall but some people talk about him like he’s Dennis Rodman lol.

He's a good defender. But he's never sniffing an all defensive team

@Enasic preaching to the choir

This guy has some of the best Bulls content out there and is probably more knowledgeable and in tune with the team than most of the major beat guys. He’s completely correct that BD should be canned but he won’t. Not this year anyway.

For what it’s worth, he was very against the Bulls maxing out LaVine for most of the off-season but eventually and seemingly reluctantly, understood the decision and said ultimately, they couldn’t lose him for nothing. He advocated for a S&T which AK really wasn’t exploring so because of that, had to sign him because you can’t let Zach LaVine walk and get nothing in return. He did say that it was likely the Bulls could end up regretting that deal though.

Anyways, back to BD….he sucks lol and everything this dude said in his analysis is true

Yeah I like this guy's analysis, found him partway through last year and have been watching since. There is also a lot of realism in what he says like in the case of Lavine. Even here, I think most of us would say that Lavine isn't a "true" max player, other than that is what market would dictate his value to be. There wasn't really any other choice other than trade him, but that too had its implications, and as was pointed out AK wasn't ever considering that.

He also somehow has enough connections to get interviews with Sam Smith, Stacey King, Adam Amin, and others which is pretty wild to me for a random youtube guy.

I get it as it relates to Lavine, as @knoxville7 can attest - I am prob the most anti-Zach poster on here, I vomited when the Bulls initially signed him at 4 x $20mm/season. My concerns were his injury history, the fact that he was a volume scorer and played crap D, and I concluded that he was the type of player that ultimately lands in Sacramento with huge ppg but never wins anything. I admitted he proved me wrong insofar as the initial contract. But I also feel that he is still not a "winner" and building around him still makes no sense.

If you wanted to be particularly stringent about it, there's really only ever, say, 10 or so players who are truly worth building teams around who could truly properly lead a team to a title with the right pieces around them. Thus, it makes it extremely difficult to actually get one of those in any capacity, you usually have to luck into them via the draft.

However, there are so many second or even third tier stars who get max contracts that it is nearly impossible not to give someone like Lavine a max. As of right now at least, contracts greatly favor the players.

The NBA salary cap and contract situation is terrible. You have scrubs making 10 mil a year and guys who don’t really provide “max” value receiving max contracts. It’s incredibly difficult to build a team in the NBA. Not sure of a solution, and don’t foresee big changes, but it is awful.
