Purposely sand bagged? He spent way more than he should have.
The only move that looks that way was losing Keith, and acquiring Seth Jones is a viable attempt to survive that transition. Fleury is a clear attempt to win now.
If sand bagging you sure as hell don't swan song Fleury.
That's a stupid concept based on record from uninformed hockey fans trying to figure it out.
Most here didn't think Stan's moves would work, were desperate, and a breach from plan to hold assets and get young.
But it screams Stan being Stan. He may have known his seat was hot...and tried to go all-in to save himself. That's the opposite of this theory.

No because he didn't actually do anything we thought was out of the ordinary for him. He would have had to actually be sandbagging the last 3 years at least.

It's probably the opposite. In an attempt to circumvent a horribly, half baked attempt at a rebuild....he figured the only way to save his ass was try to win a few games and leak into the playoffs. Just guessing, but I don't think he ever envisioned the Beach thing blowing up like it did....probably figured the Hawks would flash some cash and sweep everything under the rug. How else can you explain bringing in some guys ranging from 28 to 31 and a 36 yr old goalie to a rebuilding team?

Normal service has resumed sadly. I know that whilst the situation in terms of Davidson being interim GM/VP etc to keep Colliton at the helm is hurting us even more. Time to pull the trigger and end Collitons tenure and put Crawford in as interim HC. At least it may spark some reaction from the team and improve performances and results. Lets face its we don't have much to lose in trying that as sticking with Colliton is achieving nothing.
