I always hated game 1s after a very long break. It just throws everyone off... and I mean everyone. It could either be low scoring due to nervousness or as someone else said here, high scoring due to the fact both teams' games won't be on display til around the end.

The result could go either way. I'm not making any predictions on this one.

I expect the first ten minutes of todays game to be some of the hardest hitting, most physical start to a game that we have seen all post season.

Strange 1st period. Hawks looked to have sopme problems with the Flyers speed and Niemi looked nervous.

Officiating was a bit odd. Guess they had to call the penalties on the Hawks since the stupid broken stick "rule". But by god looks like the Flyers are allowed to interfer like the Sharks did.

Why the Hawks stoped skating 10 minutes into the game is beyond me. Flyers had us on the ropes. Probably 6 minutes on the PK has something to do with that. Well 5 and a half minutes.

Kane needs to get his head in the gaem also. Not a good period for hiom.

Better start to the second period. Officials letting the Flyers get away with clutch and grabbing though.

AND Burish with a real stupid penalty. Sigh.

LETS GO HAWKS!!!

jesus. Niemi where have you gone?

Hawks have stoped skating again and getting slopy also. Flyers are pressuring the hell out of us.

lol then Steeg scores.

This game is fucking killing me!!

Okay officials hows about a Hawks PP or 2? Can't tell me the Flyers are playing that clean..im watching the game too.

PS Richards is a great fucking hockey player. And the Flyers forecheck is veeeery good. Hello Flyers sure making this seem like it will be a veeeery long and tight series. Buckle up Hawks fans this is going to get crazy.

And again Kane needs to raise his game. So far he is not looking very good. We need him!!! Seems to be a few players so far here that need to get their games up again. Campbell? Burish? And **** I miss Ladd. "he will be alright" my ass.

Sorry guys Flyers have me all fucking nervous. They are out playing us right now in a lot of areas. And Niemi is making me piss my pants!! good thing Leighton is playing even worse. At least Niemi has made one good save.

This game is crazy!

Brouwer with number 2!!!!! And in comes Boucher.

lol this is not a goalie battle!!

This line needs to play the rest of the game Hossa looks fucking unreal.

Niemi is killing me right now, way overplaying often on shots...but then can't stop an open shot from just in the circle....grrr

Clearly both goalies have struggled...man.

I don't get how the refs can miss the Seabrook high stick to his face and the Kane trip behind the net. It's not like the puck isn't there, you have given how many PP's to the Flyers? Not only that the Brouwer break to the net with the refs almost in the goalie crease is an absolute joke. Okay their's my ref rant. LOL

Man gotta pull this one together guys...win some more battles down on the boards.

Is the ice bad, or is the puck just jumping all over the place...really a disadvantage for the hawks.

Ice looks horrible Cornflake but i don't like that as an excuse. Gotta give the Flyers some credit. Their forecheck is really giving the Hawks a hard time. Really has been the story of the game besides the bad goalkeeping by both sides. Flyers also making less mistakes with the puck. Hawks are overplaying the puck a lot. Haven't seen them look this bad with the puck since the Preds series. Not sure what is up. At least they are capitalising on their offensive chances or this would be an ugly game.

Q has a big decision to make inbetween periods. Do you put Huet in to maybe jump start the defense (which by the way has not been great either..Keith and Seabs are way out of sync right now and both look a bit frustrated). Campbell looks a bit off also. Hammer, Hendry and Sopel have been our better blueliners? Not sure if the guys have much faith in Niemi right now and I don't blame them.

Or do you give Niemi the confidence and let him keep going. A few big saves would probably reinstate a bit of confidence in him. But right now he looks like a ball of nerves right now.

Q also seems to be trying to get Kane going. Maybe bouncing him a bit too much though?

5-5 20 minutes left. 3rd period seems to be where the Hawks really step up. Lets hope. And yah maybe one Hawks pp would be nice.

Oh yeah the ice isn't an excuse at all..just stating that he helps the flyers play more than the hawks.

I was gonna write that Niemi has to be back in...he's more important than say taking out Leighton and putting Boucher in. They both have had some postseason success you can rely on at this point. Huet is very much an afterthought.

Great start though to the third!@

Holy Kopecky!!! Nice goal.

Did I see that right did the Hawks actually get a bad call go their way for once? LOL. Should have been blown dead as iut hit the Hawks bench, but meh I'll take it of course. Hawks deserved a break for once because THE OFFICIALS ARE STILL MISSING CAlls on the flyers and we have had enopugh go against us these playoffs!!!

i LIKE THE JUMP FROM THE hAWKS THIS 3RD PERIOD. MuCH BETTER.

agree the bad ice effects the Hawks style more Cornflake. also think that keeping Niemi in was the right move. Pulling him would probably more detrimental to his confidence. Have to give your #1 the bennifit of the doubt.

Looks like we will see Boucher for the rest of the series though. Me thinks the Leightonen run is over. Boucher is their better goalie.

That was an amazing goal...what patience!!!

Third periods I think will be vital this series with the flyers D playing a shorter bench.

Ugly...yes in a way but I'll take it.

Very impressed the hawks can take a game like that...while it was lots of goals and fast action, that was very much a game that you could say Philly wins often.

I'm sooo happy.!

awfully one-sided reffing once again and the flyers got away with pretty blatant stuff. glad the game was decided by a break for the hawks, they deserved it.

it was clear the long layoff had dulled both teams sharpness, but the hawks prevailed. all hawks goals EV or SH, while the flyers got awarded 4 PPs and only managed to score 1 goal on it and getting their saviour chased out from goal must raise some concerns for them. hawks kept to their true and tried game plan and once again came out on top of this ugly affair. next games shouldn't be this wide-open, i hope, unless it's only on the philly side.

Unbelievable, Buff gets cross-checked or slashed numerous times, the Seabs highstick, Kane tripped, Brouwer interfered with - not to mention the ref blocking his way to the net - and Madden undressed about 2 minutes left in the game (could have been 3 or 4 more holding/interference calls on the Flyers).

Great games by Bolland, Brouwer, Sharp, Versteeg, Kopecky and Hossa (Hossa's two assists were beauties as was Versteeg's pass to Kopecky).
