“The ice is below average,” Philadelphia’s Scott Hartnell said.

“It’s really chippy. A lot of snow accumulates really fast, so after the first couple of minutes you don’t see those nice crisp passes and things like that. It’s hot outside and humid and stuff like that so hopefully they’ll be able to do a better job for Game 2, the ice guys.”

I mentioned this before, but Hartnell should be required to wear a bag on his head.

He does look like a crazy homeless guy. After he scored I was thinking the Hawks are having trouble with everything connected to the Nashville Predators this year.

I wonder if Hartnell leaves his BONG in the Hotel.

McCreary and Ohalleran you two fucking suck ass! It's complete bullshit to call shit one way and then completely IGNORE it the fucking other.

Hawks were short handed for 8 minutes to ZERO for the Flyers and STILL led in shots on goal. **** you NHL and YOUR BULLSHIT OFFICIATING!!

Will be the other two guys on Monday. Not McCreary and Ohallerass.

Seriously that was the most lopsided officiating I've ever seen in a playoff game let alone in SCF game. That was just disgusting.

Hawks may want to address the Flyers forecheck.

everything else should fall in place. But we saw something new tonight that I am not sure the Hawks saw much of yet in the playoffs. Flyers forecheck is nasty.

TCD...i have tried to avoid CBC broadcasts basically the entire postseason if I can. I thought once they stopped having cole/neil that things would change over at cbc, but not at all.

Sportsnet can be worse though i found during the season.

I was very happy with TSN's guys, and actually don't mind NBC's guys....at least they're better than CBC's brutally biased stuff. Oh and Don...man that guy is only good if you want to watch a guy that makes zero sense talk. He gets stuff once and a while, but very inconsistent in his thoughts.

Anyways, here's to a win. I was worried about this one...and we got it.

Maybe I'm just confident, but I have a feeling the rest of the series will look a lot like the third period.

And really, all the Flyers fans are very confident that they can beat us, as they should be, but there's two X-factors. No matter who's in net they can't stop our offense, and were gonna get PP's. And their D is just not deep enough to cover all our offense, and D-men jumping in. Pronger can focus on TKB all he wants, they could go -10 this series and we could still win. Coburn and Carle cannot cover Hossa-Sharp-Brouwer, and further, could not cover, Versteeg-Bolland-Kopecky/Ladd.

This is shaping up a whole lot like the Sharks series IMO.

Yah I don't know what has happened to CBC. Cole and Niel wee obviously bias when calling a Lefas game but they were pretty damn neutral when calling other games. I thought so anyways.

It shouldn't be that hard for CBC to find a decent play by play team should it?

Oh well. Onto watching the VS feeds. I feel bad for Ron. I will always love Ron but the rest of the crew is losing me. Never thought I would say TSN is better than HNIC but it appears to be going that way...but ugh Pierre..whats the worst of two evils? lol

Yeah that forecheck had the Hawks on their heels in the first. But to cut them some slack. They haven't really seen a strong forecheck this playoff until tonight. The other teams seemed to send one maybe two guys on the forecheck. They Flyers at times seemed to send all 3 forwards and occasionally a d-man. I think they should be able to adjust. I hope.

Well if it includes them not calling the Hooks, Holds and interference, I agree.

Preds forchecked pretty damn hard. Flyers should have been called at least FOUR TIMES on the Forcheck. Had they been I'm not sure just how tight it would have been.

Prongers cross check was the Key. He nailed Buff at least three times in front of Leighton in the first. First time he looked at McCreary, No call. Second time he looked at McCreary again no call. Third time Buff and enough and man handled him, again NO CALL. To me that tells the Flyers they are NOT going to call them for infractions and opens the doors. Had McCreary called that, which I remind you was RIGHT AFTER Eager got called for the same thing, the Flyers would have had to back off some.

They were taking liberties all over the place tonight. No question. I wish I didn't have to ***** about officiating, especially at the Stanley Cup Level. It's inexcusable!

I thought at least on that odd man rush in the third where I think it was Sharp got absolutely tackled there had to be a call but nothing. You can't tell me the slow lumbering D-men on the Flyers didn't hook and hold. Give me a break it was totally obvious. Not to mention the stick Seabs took to the mouth. After they called the same thing on Hjalmerson. By the way the refs can't even tell who the penalties are on. Campbell served Hjalmersons penalty, what a joke.

Campbell said something to Ohalleran on his was out of the box and it almost looked like Ohalleran was going to T him up for an USC as well.

There was a high stick from Richards, McCreary was right there in front of us looking at the same view we did. NO WAY did he miss seeing that. It was clear as day and he was most definitely looking at the play.

And yea Sharps play was also coming right at us and there is NO WAY he wasn't interfered with or held on the way. Absolutely NO WAY. I'm pretty sure that was Ohalleran in front of us watching the play. I'm at the same level as the refs almost so in certain instances see exactly what they see. Well if their eyes weren't wandering on purpose.

I don't get it.

For real, when was the last time the NHL didn't do make up calls blatantly. Tonight 4 PPs and not one call, not even a 4 on 4. The refs were definitely trying to influence the game one way or another tonight, whether subconsciously or there just that bad. One thing I do know is, if you give us more that 3 PP's we will put at least one of them in the back of the net. Tonight it would have probably been 3.

I can't help but feel pretty good after that game. Zero powerplays. Buff, Toews and Kane go pointless and a combined -9. Niemi puts up an .844 save percentage. Campbell's ineffective. Burish and Eager take dumb penalties. And the Hawks still win.

It didn't feel like a coincidence that the Flyers started to struggle in the third during the longest stretch of continuous even strength play. And I wish them good luck if they think they can win four of seven against the Hawks when their defensemen's ice time numbers look like they did in Game 1. 32:21 for Pronger in a game without OT? Ridiculous. Parent and Krajicek played a combined 7:44.

All the scoring back and forth made it some pretty nerve-wracking stuff, but the Hawks prove once again they can win any type of game. 2-1? 3-2? 6-5? Doesn't matter.

13 down, three to go.

Every time the camera panned to him I kept thinking he was a straight-up candidate for some sort of "long lost celebrity twin" thingy with Zach Galifianakis (pre-SNL shave of course).

Four of Six now. And I don't think they can. We really didn't have one thing go our way, maybe a few bounces, but all loose bounces in our end found Flyers sticks. No PP's, missed Icing, possible offsides....to me this game had Flyers written all over it, and we got it done. Home or away, this was their game, we haven't played well in game 1's and it was all set up. Pronger CANNOT play 30+ and be his best anymore, and they simply don't have the depth on D to cover the rest. Not to mention their goalie was on waivers three months ago. And good luck banking on our D and Niemi to give up 5 goals again. Last time we gave up 5 it was May 1st, didn't happen for another month when our guys were clearly nervous about the first cup game.

As a teacher in high school used to put it, "Quite simply, were the better team".

God where did the "My Contempt for all things Olczyck Grows" thread go? That thread rocked.

Tonight pre game Eddie goes "I don't think the Hawks have seen this kind of offense yet".......................I mean maybe cause we swept them but come on, Thorton, Marleau, Heatley, Setoguchi, Pavelski, Boyle, Clowe completely trumps Carter, Richards, Briere, Pronger, Gagne.....Giroux maybe? But I mean, Eddie gets paid to know this shit, where does he come up with that thought?

Say what? You can't believe that the 2nd most-penalized team in the League this season committed absolutely no obvious and call-able infractions against our beloved Hawks who were the 5th least-penalized team? You know, like Game 1 of the WCF where the refs would have had us believe the 8th most-penalized team ALSO played a perfect and textbook composure and behavioral game against the Hawks? Homer! :p

But seriously, I didn't think the officiating could actually BE that one-sided again. Once again the NHL proves me wrong and that history will be made. . .albeit absurd, farcical history. Silly me. The Flyers wouldn't know a perfectly clean game if it *****-slapped them upside their fucking heads. Period. Bastards probably haven't even been within a 100-mile radius of ever playing a clean game.
