i wonder what leoleo, the champion of the refs and slayer of homerism, has to say about the officating on the o-boards.

the reason campbell just got 5th most ice-time last night might be because of all the penalties, which i belive he doesn't kill?

While i was out gallivanting around the globe, i primarily got my Blackhawk updates from the boards here. Of course I couldn't help but notice a few attacks on my boy Hossa. I'm not going to name names. You know who you are.

So I'm watching my first game in almost three weeks tonite, and, I'll be dambed, Mr. Hossa was a friggin' beast and the best player on the ice.

So here's my proposal. I will give the guilty parties a chance to come forward voluntarily to be sent to reeducation camp. You will be forced to watch the video below 1000 times a day for a week, and then write Marian a letter of apology taking back every word you wrote. Trust me, this is for your own good.

pronger seemed really blasé, maybe even arrogant, in the post-game interview. he seemed really content with himself for shutting down big buff. too bad his team still lost.

It sure wasn't pretty but a wins a win. Its encouraging that the team as a whole didn't play great especially the D and still come away with a win. The bullshit officiating really didn't help matters either so hopefully that will be a lot better tomorrow too. Wonder how Leighton feels now about the Hawks offensive being on a par with Montreal. Some players should keep their mouths shut cause they just end up looking like idiots. So one down three to go.

I haven't read the rest of this thread yet, so if I repeat something said earlier, sorry. Like I said previously, the Flyers try to get away with murder. I saw several interference calls that should have been made, a high stick, a charge and a blatant retalitory elbow to the head, but all mysteriously missed, that is poor reffing in a championship series, period. Not raising the conspiracy flag, just there is no way in hell two of the highest penalized teams (SJ and Philly) have penalty free games during a playoff game against the same opponent. Not that the Hawks didn't get away with alot, specifically Bolly yanking Richards skates out from under him in the face off circle...."but a wolf can't change into sheeps clothing " or whatever the saying is, you get the gist here.

I think last night was not what anyone expected to see. Glad the boys won, but they were outplayed in the 1st, way out played. I will be honest about a couple things, having seen Philly play here in DC numerous times, I was worried going into last nights game, and I really don't know what to take away from that game as a fan, other than the win. Just keep winning boys.

Kind of hard not to be outplayed when you are short handed 1/3rd of the period.

I think it was 17-9 SOG after one and they were down 3-2. There's something to say about nerves as well.

All that matters is the W...... THREE MORE!

I agree RK....wife told me to pipe down several times at the "Where the **** is the whistle" and "Put down your arm, you're not a fucking referee"... about the shorthanded play, but even when they were even strength they were being out hustled. Nerves should even out a couple minutes in, not last an entire period or game.....unless it is game 7 of the finals

I'm not sure about that. Neither team IMO completely dominated it was 3-2. Both were making defenisve mistakes leading to goals. Maybe the for check of the Flyers did throw them off some. Who knows.

Despite the ass officiating they just won their 9th out of 10 playoff games.

Glad to see I am not the only one that has not forgotten this little statistic right here. Seems to me that even the big media playing on the whole "Cinderella story" of the Flyers has missed this.

IMHO i feel they were outplayed in the 1st, perspecitves may be a bit different, because of where we watched the game from. You notice different things being there and when watching from the couch. I doubt this game was how either Q or Laviolette imagined it being played out when drawing up their rosters.

One caveat to all of this, if that soccer like goal off of Nick's head/face doesnt break the ice, I seriously think a different box score would have played out.

You can look at it a couple of ways. Pronger was irritated by the Buf vs Pronger crap before the series. But, he also sees that his D have issues and wants to show some confidence in his team.

However, Pronger knows the flyers are in for a world of hurt. Their D were just running on fumes at the end.

Pronger had 32:21

Timonen had 25:31

Carle had 28:08

Coburn had 26:16

Their 5-6 d men

Krajicek had 7:03

and Parent only 00:41 seconds.

Philly technically only played 5 d last night.

They keep this up and their touted D will be sucking on air tanks by the time they are done with their first shifts in Philly.

your last line there is no doubt 100% accurate. No way in hell did either coach envision 11 goals being scored. And 10 of those in the first two periods. One of the reason I say nerves is the Hawks team we saw in the 3rd was the team that Wins the Cup.

They appeared to settle down, get rid of the nerves and the Flyers were lost most of the period after trying to run and gun with the Hawks for 40 minutes. They can be aggressive and forcheck like hell but in the end they don't have wheels for that.

Pronger can not play for 40 minutes a night.

Or maybe it was because his game was brutal. Surprised Q didn't send Soup to the showers in the first period. His 13 minutes of ice time was all at even strength. Hammer and Sopel both had 18 minutes of ice time at even strength, plus they both had time on the kill. I recall seeing Campbell on the ice only once in the last ten minutes of the game, when there were no penalties. He did not come ready to play. Hopefully we see a different player tomorrow.

If you're gonna rail on Campbell, you better have the same disdain for Sopel last night. He wasn't good at all. Looked slower than usual (which is really slow to begin with) and correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Sopel out for the first 4 Flyer goals?

Yes. Sopel by far was the worst defenseman IMO. Too much time again. He does some things really good, but does not have the same foot, or stick speed most other forwards from the opposition teams often have.

Campbell was on the ice for 2 of the 5 against.

Sopel was on the ice for 4 of the 5 against.

Hjarlmarsson was on the ice for 3 of the 5 against.

Campbell served Hjarlmarsson's high stick. As the dumb ass officials couldn't even get that right.

Buff with TEN HITS.. LOL

As far as the officials are concerned, the most pathetic display imo was dumbass O"Hallaran getting in the way of Brouwer as he was flying up the wing towards the Creamsicles goal.

Nothing like having an idiot zebra act like an extra D-man for your team.

What was the problem with Niemi's mask last night? Darren Pang was bitching about it on Twitter saying it shouldn't be doing that and must be cheaply made or something like that.
