Ewwww. . .Iginla. NO. Period. If it's not Giordano I want ZILCH from CGY. ZILCH. Do non-CGY fans actually watch Iginla play or even track his play these days or do they just go based on his "legend" from when he was a dominant power forward. **** no----dude shows up for about 1/3 of their games and I also contend he's been a large part of their loserly locker room mentality. He's a fucking coach killer. They have broken that franchise apart trying to bring in the elusive centre who can play with Iginla and no one has worked really well except for Savard before they traded him. They've changed coaches over and over for him, changed systems for him and still no success over the years. Common denominator? As a star he has no fucking ability to make anyone he plays with better. He's not a good passer or puck handler and for years now he pretty much like to trawls around the blue line fancying himself a sniper when in fact finesse was never his especial talent---he was a force back in the day because he literally plowed his way through everyone to score by what looked like amazing brute force. He doesn't do that anymore so no, PASS. Also, old.

Are Devils’ Financial Concerns Impacting Parise Decision?

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]by Mike Colligan on July 3, 2012.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]Fans, media, and General Managers are growing impatient as the Zach Parise sweepstakes enter Day 3.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]According to Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune, Parise arrived in Minnesota on Tuesday afternoon and plans to discuss his free agent future with family members:[/background]

Parise, 27, said he would return to his home in Orono and talk with family, which will likely include his father, former North Stars player and assistant coach J.P. Parise, and his mother, Donna.

But in the end, he said, “It’s a decision my fiancée and I will make together and that plays a lot into it. We just want to go somewhere that we know we’re going to be happy.”

As hard as it is to imagine since his agent, Don Meehan, said a decision could come later in the day Tuesday, Parise says that decision-making hasn’t started.

“We haven’t made a timetable or wanted to make a timetable,” Parise said. “I don’t want to put those types of restrictions on anything. You have to do the right research and it’s a life-changing decision.”

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]According to reports, teams still in the running for Parise include Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Detroit, as well as his former team the New Jersey Devils.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]The Devils re-signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Bryce Salvador on Tuesday to a three-year, $9.5 million deal despite the financial issues the team has been facing in recent months. New Jersey General Manager Lou Lamoriello also convinced future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur to return to the Devils with a two-year deal on Monday.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]New Jersey’s financial storm has been brewing for years but the team is entering a critical juncture in the process, according to various reports.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said last month during his State of the League address that he feels the process is on track to come to a satisfactory conclusion, but a few weeks ago theNew York Post pointed out that the league was ready to step in if ownership can’t follow through:[/background]

When the team made it to Stanley Cup finals this spring, the team’s lenders agreed to extend the deadline for when they could put the team in default from early July to August, sources said.

Asked about the Devils before Game 1 of the finals last month, Bettman said Vanderbeek “is working to both refinance the debt on the club and equity-raise, and he appears to be fairly confident that he can pull this off in the next few weeks.”

Bettman added, “Since I’ve been in touch with the banks on a regular basis, we seem to be on track.”

The commissioner is expected to give Vanderbeek a few more weeks to complete a financial restructuring but will not wait until the Aug. 14 deadline passes, sources said.

The NHL would likely force him out sooner to give suitors enough time to study the team’s financials and make an offer to lenders before the bankruptcy deadline, according to sources.

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]If the Post’s report is accurate, the Devils and Vanderbeek could be running out of time to find a solution.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]Parise has stated on multiple occasions that he prefers to stay in New Jersey, but the financial uncertainties are likely limiting the options of ownership and GM Lamoriello at this point.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]This is purely speculation, but as the process drags on, is it possible the Devils could be asking Parise to stall his decision in an attempt to secure a last-minute resolution to the debt concerns?[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]The free agent market has come to a screeching halt around the league as teams and player representatives wait for the Parise situation to play itself out.[/background]

[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]No team involved in the Parise sweepstakes has anything to lose by waiting for a decision. Teams that lose out on Parise will eventually shift their attention to Ryan Suter, Rick Nash,Bobby Ryan, and a number of other backup plans which could make for an interesting Week 2 of the Free Agent frenzy.[/background]

this shit pisses me off.

books you gotta sleep!!! Zach aint worth all your worries!!

Oh suuuuure. So you can talk more shit about me? GTFOOH you Canadian chump.

Hey, I am just the messenger. Though I would with shit-eating grin and much cackling welcome Zach to Chicago y'all know I am following this fucking telenovela l to see about Suter. In the end it's all pointless because some say Parise is definitely waiting on Suter because they'd prefer to play together and some say since FA opened that Suter won't announce until Parise does. Who to believe. . .who to believe? And since I think it HIGHLY unlikely that either winds up here I am basically anxious to see where they both land so that FA can re-start in the sense of GMs being willing to talk more trades, trades, TRADES! Also though the pool has slimmed considerably I obviously want to see what happens with what's left of the "next bests" esp. Carle.

IKR? The Devils shit pisses me off. And quite frankly I can buy the stalling for Lou theory because it's seeming awfully hard for him to say he's leaving NJ. Look at Suter, while he's never said he's officially leaving NSH and only that he wanted to test FA does anyone really feel in their gut he's going to stay there? I am not getting the same sense with Parise. I think Lou is tugging at his heartstrings and he'd actually do anything he could find a way to stay.

I still don't buy ALL the he's just doing due dilligence shit that people are giving him the benefit of the doubt about. Parise's a great guy from everything I have ever been able to tell but he's not a saint---I find it incredibly hard to believe that this whole past year he and his fiancee haven't discussed possible relocation cities and scenarios because what they don't have more pressing concerns like oh say their wedding in two weeks? Nor do I buy that his agent is just completely incompetent and failed in a part of his job which was to prepare him for what was about to happen on July 1st. WTF did they think was going to happen with money in an anemic FA class and after seeing the craziness of the last couple of years? Yeah, I call bullshit. And I certainly think the comment to the press about it all being entirely more important than just money is TOTALLY disingenous because the ONLY fact we've known about the Parise camp since the first couple of hrs. of FA opening is that his services were going to require an unheard of $24 mil in cash money bonuses on top of the actual salary. How in the **** can you say to the press that you're therefore surprised and overwhelmed at the offers being thrown out to you? GMAFB. Of course it's not technically about the money anymore because you've pretty much made it have to be about choosing between $100 mil offers but getting to $100 mil was most certainly a prerequisite. Whatever, don't make me laugh in your faces Mr. Parise and Mr. Parise's Agent. LOL

Could have sworn I posted this somewhere yesterday...

If you did I agree. I did not read it though. It's what I would be working on. Then again I'm not confident Stan really knows what he's doing and I'm even less confident other GM's see him as a "real GM" with experience and knowledge to their own. Unfortunately that's what happens when you walk into a job on someone else's coat tails. Not slamming him per say, just saying it like I see it.

TCD the only Hawks with a no trade clause are Montedor and Seabrook.

Keith, Toews and Kane have No Movement. Toews and Kane's do not kick in until the last year of their current contract. Each gave up one year UFA in that contract so both are UFA when it is up.

I could of told you that 5 days ago.

LOL! You crack me up!

I'd have been working on getting Iginla this entire time so that, I totally agree with you on. Feaster is definitely in rebuild mode and if I were him would take a much younger D man in Hjarlmarsson knowing he will continue to improve as time goes on.

That was epic books. EPIC!!

Dude I can't take this shit anymore---people were incredulous with me yesterday for being all why the **** didn't he/they make a decision, give him time, yadda yadda yadda but I can't help it, this shit is tedious. Fucking-A, my boy Hossa managed to commit to a career-ending contract on July 1st. They need to stop with the bullshit.Completely unnecessary and frankly is not making me think of them in a positive light. And I think this is because as I have posted in the past, IMO there is no and I do mean NO point in icing/fielding a professional sports team if your goal isn't to win it's championship. In the same vein I think I sorta essentially hold FAs in any sport to that same litmus test. Athletes should evaluate serious offers from teams and decide on the franchise that is best configured for them to potentially contend and win championships for as long as possible. Period. I love hardware and I expect elite athlete's to love it too. Toews understands this. And I am from Chicago where hardware is rare and very hard to come by so far in my 43 years so that tells you how much I always want these yahoos to choose to strive for it.

That being said if they indeed would prefer to be a tandem as LeBrun has speculated or heard whisperings about for a long time now then of then of teams perhaps in play only PHI, PIT and maybe CHI make sense in terms of existing talent and infrastructure and money to get you hardware. But this also applies to if they make individual choices IMO. If in this rare confluence of UFA status in their 20s and prime they don't go to teams that are already stacked but with some holes and make them juggernauts then I can't take them seriously. **** 'em.

what sort of event can detroit plan? a garbage bin diving party? "Welcome to Detroit Ryan and Zach....enjoy the diapers"

Well they might have this soon: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/02/zombie-apocalaypse-detroit-theme-park_n_1644298.html

Zombie Apocalypse Theme Park Could Take Over Abandoned Neighborhood In Detroit

Why wait for the zombie apocalypse? One man wants customers to experience the terror now.

With soaring budget deficits and population on the decline, Detroit has become a laboratory for testing out creative solutions for cities, like urban farming and pedestrian-friendly greenway trails.

Mark Siwak says he has his own idea for bettering the city -- a live-action zombie theme park set in one of Detroit's abandoned neighborhoods.

Paying customers would be chased by a growing horde of zombies (all professionals) through a cordoned-off, desolate section of the city, seeking shelter in abandoned homes and factories and businesses.

Z World creator Siwak, who has launched a fundraiser on IndieGoGo (he's raised $2,200 of the $140,000 needed to meet his goal), says that the city of Detroit needs to consider creative solutions to areas of urban blight.

Mayor Dave Bing's long-touted campaign promise was the implementation of the Detroit Works Project, which could ultimately relocate residents from blighted districts to more populated areas in an attempt to centralize city services. Spread across 140 square miles, Detroit proper is so large that the entire cities of San Francisco and Boston, plus the borough of Manhattan, can fit inside its borders.

And Siwak says, with all that land, there's room in the Motor City for a zombie theme park. He even compares his idea to the city's famed Heidelberg Project, in which artist Tyree Guyton transformed the empty homes of his neighborhood into a large-scale art installation.

But some critics have shrugged off "Z World" as an exploitative and insensitive ploy to profit off the glamorization of Detroit's problems. Curbed Detroit blogger Sarah Cox wrote that Siwak's plan "sounds a lot like all that fun we had during the 1960s race riots. It is nice to know that Z Land is finally going to capitalize on our love of adrenaline rushes and nostalgia. Now even visitors from the 'burbs can 'wonder if they will make it through the night.'"

Siwak told CBS Detroit that "the city can only have so many urban farms or similar uses for vacant plots.'

And while he's far away from his funding goals, not to mention permission from the City of Detroit, he says he's already getting resumes from Detroiters who'd like their next 9-to-5 to focus on eating brains and staggering through the streets.

On his site, Siwak assured, "while zombies are great, the real neat thing about this project is the potential to inject some life into a forgotten neighborhood - with the opportunity to work with neighborhood groups and organization."

This wouldn't be the world's first live-action zombie role-play game, though Detroit's proposal is almost certainly the most expansive. In Atlanta, thrill-seekers wielding paint ball guns will pay as much as $30 to play hide-and-seek with undead zombies in a formerly abandoned truck stop rechristened as the Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse, opening Sept. 28. Over on the other side of the pond, wish.co.uk offers zombie combat mission experiences with training from military veterans and movie-grade special effects.

Yup. I am praying this guys twitter acct. wasn't hacked because otherwise he seems like a reliable source based on his bio and his followers.

Thank you Baby Jesus! Things will start happening again at least bright and early on Thursday morning!

Also? Just got to add that if they land there. MIN? Yeah, even with their rather sterling prospect pool I am gonna have to say Zach and Ryan don't have a feverish Cup lust. They must want to be a part of the rebuild. NEXT!

And Detroit still needs to fill a very large hole in their defence.
