Well, as much as people pissed and moaned about giving away Campbell for Olesz...that shaved 24mil off the books in contracts.

If Scooter boy manages to move Monty/Hjarll...can shave another 13mil

All those 1yr deals to shitheads...didn't lock in anyone long term. Parise...is worth the long term. I'd rather do that than the 4yr -12mils to people I give 2 shits about

i'll agree but when do risks of injuries come into play. We learnt a few times what happens when these long contract come into play. Looking at it entirely from salary stand point and not cap. The Diepietro shit in New York is the easy go to example even though now that $$$ doesn't seem so much as it did at the time thanks to inflation around the league (yet the Islanders are still trying to recover from it). It's still salary that has to be paid though and that is always going to directly and indirectly effect a cap spending at some point.

It's that 12 year crap which is worrying. But again one would actually have to see structure of the contract before anything can be said. Obviously that thing would be top loaded like all the others.

So, when are the Hawks signing Shane Doan so that Eruns blows his load all over the place?

Eh, this day is making my head hurt. I still think PIT or MIN get Parise anyway. I am personally still on Team Suter! I don't think the speculations for Suter have been this much have they? Maybe they have, I don't know because I can't keep this shit straight anymore. Going to bed. I'd like to get on with knowing who's on the roster one way or another---Parise, no Parise, Suter, no Suter, Carle, no Carle, Doan, no Doan etc., etc. And preferably tomorrow. I am now finding this FA tedious.

really late to this, but here my opinion on suter or parise

id love suter cuz i loved his uncle, butthat is me being nostalgic of my childhood hawks.

Im willing to bet Crawford gets out of his soph slump along with leddy; monty heals, hammer improves and olsen also gets better plus a full season for oduya will make our D much better; big thing about the past two years isn't goals against, it is goals for, which parise would greatly help.

unlike 09 and the cup year, we have average goaltending a good defense but dont outscore at will anymore like back then to make up for our goals against.

parise over suter.

Dipietro?? Really? Go feel shame

I wouldn't give Doan more than 4mil. He's only gonna get 20g/50pts TOPS

Would you as an owner want to be paying a guy 4.5 mill a year to sit in the press box for 11 years? Remember that was a 15 year deal and cost the Islanders 68 million dollars in real money. They ain't getting that back. I know the Hawks aren't revenue strapped like the Islanders but a 100 million dollar mistake could lead any team in that direction.

As for Doan? He is officially on his downward spiral. I wouldn't touch him for anything higher either.

No, scoring has not been the Hawks problem. They get offense. They were tied for 5th last season in GF. On the other hand they were brutally 9th in GA.

Dipietro was a toolbag. And it was the islanders.

It's not my money, and I'd like to see the hawks take that chance. There's LTIR and I'm sure insurance covers a bit of that contract for the team

See I like Parise. I've liked him since the Olympics. He has the potential to be really special. But a 12 year deal for that much scares me. On the other hand it could be brilliant if he keeps developing.

keep in mind that I am hearing it will be a 100 mill for 12 years as fanof19 said (which is crazy) but that 12 mill signing bonus would be part of the 100 mill (split into 6 mill this year and 6 next). So cap wise its more around the 88 mill for 12 years that has to be worked in. Depending on how the shit is structured its going to average to about 7.5 mill a year cap hit. There is no cap issue with the signing. It's that 12 year shit that hurts and salary which i am sure Rocky would be somewhat hesitant to hand out..and I wouldn't blame him. Again figuring out what revenue return one could get through the attention and merchandising and branding the Parise name is the question. Parise def keeps this team playoff bound for many years and deep playoff runs should equal big revenue gains. (injuries etc of course being the risk in this business)

There are so many upsides and downsides if he came here but like pmx it would be something else to watch this team with Parise added. It gives me a boner thinking about another legit lw in the top 6.

I thought the talk was 12 million in bonuses in each of the first two years, so 24 mil. And bonuses count on the caphit. If it's a 100 million/12 year deal it would be a 8.33 million caphit. Bonuses are just money upfront that gets paid in one big lump.

If you buy tickets it is actually your money.

See that I don't agree with. As much as I'm not in the Stan camp I do believe this is Q's chance. If he fails, he's gone. But, they owed him that I suppose.

I agree with what you are saying.

I feel that Q might have been looking over his shoulder and thinking that Havvy was waiting in the wings to replace him should he slip up. If the Hawks make that move now, they have to go out and find someone to take over the reins and then pay three coaches, 2 of which aren't working....

Or, they could had the reins over to Kitchen.

My comment were....the "two best in the league"...meaning now. Not Toe Blake/Eddie Shore talk...

And that's a whole different debate when it comes to era's

Yeah, Crosby probably wouldn't be in the league. Malkin would.
