[A] Blackhawks Trade Rumors and Ryan Miller

PK Subban makes 875K per year with an expiring contract. He's also in his second season in the NHL.

Patrick Sharp had played less than 70 total NHL games in three partial seasons in the Flyers organization. I don't know what he was making, but I bet it wasn't much.

Michael Frolik is in his fourth NHL season, and is in the first year of a 2.5M contract. He's been underwhelming for the most part this year.

I doubt he's on many GMs wish list, he'll never be a "gem."

You never know.

One GM's poor player, could certainly be another's "gem". I don't doubt he could be packaged in a deal.

I did chuckle though as I could see you furiously looking up all those facts before typing that.

What ever the case maybe. Folik and Bickell will be gone thats for sure. There are talented players to be had that other teams are getting rid of simply because they seems to either not fit the profile, $$ or the orginaztion may think they are not good enough...like RK mentioned look at Sharp. but at that time when Sharp was playing for Philly, its not like they were such a great team. Every player blossoms differently just needs to be at the right system. I think Stan and his advisors have been looking out there to get the right player. I don't want them to rush just to make a splash and make headlines. Its a chess match, lets hope we make the right move.

Some, if not most, never blossom.

For every Patrick Sharp there are 20 Mark Bells.

**** YOU! Bellie is back playing! he's a star I say! Hahahha.

Sorry, I know he's pretty worthless but I still have a soft spot for the entire ABC line.

Not me. I liked Greasy, but Arnason was garbage and Bell, just meh.

Arnason is probably my least favorite of the 3, I liked Calder, and Bell was at least entertaining, I think I liked what the line became stigma wise more than any individual on the actual line. If it's one thing that I hate it's that we can't really name lines anymore because they don't last more than a period.

I didn't like that line at all even though caller worked hard in a very difficult time franchise wise and that's worth a lot.

Ps

i wouldn't want subban within 50 meters of this club and our blueline. He's extremely over rated for a guy 2 years into the league. He's physical yes but he also plays very stupid. He has cost the has countless games with his dumb penalties.

He has a lot of maturing to do before he should be the poster boy for a team..which is what he has become in Montreal. Horrible.

It was an example of a player who's been benched not a suggestion they go after him. Which Montreal would never do anyway.

Chicago's dilemma

3:25PM ET

Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks don't appear to have very many weaknesses at the moment. But if there is an aspect to Joel Quenneville's squad that could feasibly hold them back from a potentially deep run at another Stanley Cup, it's probably in goal.

That's not to say Corey Crawford and Ray Emery aren't capable netminders. Crawford stepped up during the playoffs a year ago and both goalies have put together decent stretches of play already this season. As Craig Custance notes, however, the bigger issue may be how they're handled during the postseason.

Logic would suggest that Quenneville will probably go with the hot hand. The problem is, what if that goaltender begins to struggle during the playoffs? Would the 'Hawks then make a switch mid-series? That strategy hasn't exactly worked for the Philadelphia Flyers over recent years. What's important to remember here is the fact that Chicago is chasing the ultimate goal and they're a very real contender. So any distraction could be amplified.

Decision time
"The interesting thing to me is the decision Joel Quenneville will make during the playoffs. I have to imagine he'll play the hot hand coming out of the regular season, but that has the potential to become a distraction in the postseason if either goalie struggles. As good as Crawford was last season in the playoffs, Emery has 36 playoff games under his belt with a career postseason record of 20-15."

Here is the way I see it, as much as they wanna play their best their mind and body knows its not the playoffs and are in pretty good shape as far as the standings go so they are not always going to have great games, Im talking about the Crawfords of this world. But when the playoffs start every team plays up a notch I think Craw will be fine. Don't forget the issue was goal tending back in the 2009-2010 and even at that time our D was playing great. So to be in the situation were with our D and still have 64 points half way through the season speaks alot, hell I will be the first to throw someone under the bus, but reality is one thing and dreaming is another. I would rather be in this situation now and not when playoffs are starting. While some of these teams that are showing steam ala St Louis, the Wings, Vancouver might burn out. Im not saying they will but you can only sustain steam for sometime before the steam runs out. I have faith in our team come playoffs A) I remember reading this past offseason that this Hawks teams wants that Cup more then anything this year, especially the way last year ended with them almost doing the unthinkable. I think they think about that game every day. And I really hope they do.

I'm not really worried about goaltending honestly as Crow convinced me enough last year that he can do it. He may be having a bit of a sophmore slump but like you said playoffs are different. As for Emery, well, we've seen that he can go out and win 5 in a row no problem. He seems to be clutch to me for some reason. Likes the pressure of must wins. When he was thrown in there finally this year and basically said perform and you'll get more starts, he performed. I'd like to see use ride one of the goalies again 10 games in a row or something like that before we switch. Make them want to get out there and play.
