Interesting move. Glad we acted quick on this trade for penuts. Like RK mentioned we are a month away from the dead line..we will see what Stan does. I think he is saving his $$ for a an URF agent D men, plus still have Frolik and Bicks to through in. I was in TSN and the posters are shocked that we got him for a 25 year unporven player. Nucks fans and Calgary fans are pissed. But all agree that he is going to a contending team.

I'm concerned about his health and abilities now but the bigger issue with me is he is a genuine asshole. I can't believe Bowman just brought this dick head onto my hockey team!!!

I dislike Morrison so much that I hope he fucking breaks his leg the first game. I would rather go with what we have now than bring this asshole onto the club and into the dressing room.

Bad move Bowman. I don't even need to give it time. Next to Matt Cooke Morrison was the biggest asshole on the Canucks roster back in the West Coast Express days. Even a bigger dick than Bertuzzi.

I'm totally disappointed in this. I will never warm up to this prick. This is nearly as bad as if it were Modano coming here. Enjoy one of the biggest jerks in hockey Hawks fans.

Neither will I... Won't forget his rather small time as a Duck... was a blip in the radar. He was slow as a snail and had a terrible shot. Might be one of the worst Ducks they ever had aside from Chistov....

Sure hes got a defensive game, but that's not really why we wanted him, was it? I mean, its a nice thing to have and all, but we need a legitimate point scoring 2nd line center. This guy might have been it years ago when he was a Canuck, but I'm not fooled by his current condition.

Forgive me, but I have every reason to worry about bringing this guy in.... And holy hell, if he teams with Bruno on the 4th line, that line might be one of the slowest in the league.

Might be Stan's worst trade as a GM thus far and I don't even know who in the world we gave up. Well, I know, but I've never heard of that guy...

This move might just be insurance against another center injury. It gives the Hawks a little flexibility provided Morrison can stay healthy himself. You can mix and match some of the pieces on those last two lines. Maybe even play Mayers with Morrison and Kruger on that fourth line once everyone else is healthy. For all the talk of the forwards not helping the d out enough, Morrison is more than capable of being a reliable center in his own end.

Speed on the fourth line isn't a necessity, and Bruno's proven to be at least somewhat effective thanks to his hands. I'm more concerned what this might mean for the youngsters. I'd hate to see Shaw or Hayes get sent down when they've clearly provided a lift to the club.

It still doesn't address adding a depth d-man, but maybe that's next on the table for Stan.

As for the second line center spot, there's Bolly who's been mentoined (he had the pedigree for scoring in jrs but has rarely had that opportunity on the Hawks), and there's always Patrick Sharp...last I remember they won a Cup with him in that role.

If this is Stan getting his center man, for pretty much nothing too I can really see a winger coming in, Ruutu please. That would also leave enough room for a D man.

Pez, I don't think this made the Hawks slower... but it did make them smaller, weaker.

I hope they grab a big physical LW if they're going to acquire a small, weak center.

The positive is Morrison is a good two-way player, decent at face-offs, and can still contribute offensively (just not at the same production as 5 years ago)... if he plays on the 3rd/4th line he'll fit better than Madden did.

How does it make them smaller and weaker if they gave up nothing (from the big team) to get him. I'm confused...

I meant it literally, he's 5-11, 175 lbs and not very physical, I didn't say it hurts the team.

This is my opinion.

One thing is becoming more and more clear to me. Tallon had a way of producing a team of talent and personalities. That was very apparent by the team winning Lord Stanley.

I do not see that with the Bowman's. I see a gathering of talent, our average age has to be dramatically higher then during our Cup run, but not the team chemistry. It just feels like a hodge podge of players in a melting pot. Purely my perspective from the outside.

While I absolutely love Tallon, I disagree. I think your appreciation for the man is clouding your opinion. Admirable no doubt, and in my opinion deserved, but not accurate in describing Stan so far.

Tallon built the core.

I'd also make a wild guess Dale would be ok with this move. It adds depth at very little cost. Something ALL Playoff bound teams desire.

Ok, so it adds depth, and I definitely agree with that... but I also felt the same way when he was a Duck at the time. Thought it was one of the best moves they did at the time.

My opinion of him changed drastically when he was the guy under the microscope. Wasn't good... wasn't bad... but wasn't very noticeable either. I can also tell you he was in Randy Carlyle's doghouse a number of times as well.

I was hoping we could get a guy we can see and not complain about... Morrison from what I've seen was that guy as a Canuck and Devil. He wasn't thereafter.

I guess we can all credit Stan for getting the guy for next to nothing, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't pan out like we all hope he does. He's a Hawk, and there's nothing I can do about it. I don't run the team.

My guess on this deal I could assume was based on the two games this past week? I could be wrong, but that may have factored in.

High risk, high reward, I guess.

I don't buy that he'll be a locker room distraction at all. He's a 13 year (923 games) vet, the Hawks have just a couple of guys that I think have a bigger influence than him coming to the team. Toews, Sharp, Seabrook, O'Donnell, Mayers, Brunette,....

Hawks need Center depth - this helps - and gave up nothing. Connelly was 25....and how far down the Dmen depth chart? Much rather give him up than a pick.

Morrison's cap hit for the rest of this year? $ 348,278 ....which leaves the Hawks with $4,816,218 under the cap still to get more.

It makes the wingers better. Sharp and Kane specifically do not have to play center.

This isn't the only move theyre making, but its a low cost depth move, Now, I'd love to see them get Jack Johnson somehow out of LA.

Like I had mentioned, they are giving Chicago the winner of this trade all over the NHL networks. Good job Stan, for what he cost and what Stan let go of...any GM would do that being in our situation. Still 4+ mil to spend and Frolik and Bicks and more prospects ot dish out. I give Stan an A for what is avaliable out there not to mention how many teams are thinking they are still in it. I am not kidding you this move is burning the Nucks inside, they are pissed as hell. LOLOL I love it. So with this move I take it Roy is out if the question. God if we can land Ruutu, Gleason, and possibliy another D man that would be great.

I simply do not like him as a person for reasons im not going to get into. What he does on the ice will not sway me into liking him even if he scored a cup winning goal.

**** it... im totally upset right now. There are only a few people I genuinely would never want or wanted in a Hawks jersey...Morrison is one of them. RK if Bertuzzi should be in jail (which I agree with) Morrison should be in there also as an accomplice. The current state of Canucks douchebagery and the dickness was born out of Cooke, Morrison and Bertuzzi.

I can't cheer for him no matter what. I'm shocked and upset that he is now a Hawk. I can't believe this has happened.

P.S. Not half way through writing this my boss called who is a season ticket Canucks fan and who never says a bad word about a current or ex Canucks player (we have good fights about that).....I was just laughed at and wowed that the Hawks would go after the prick ass. Even my boss agrees he is a dickhead.

What if he gave you a reach around?

Stan said he's been talking to the Flames for awhile. Regardless of the two games this week.

There is no risk IMO. They gave basically nothing up for him, or a guy who'd never had gotten a shot here.

Do the Hawks have to make a move to free a roster space for Morrison?

Gleason would be ideal but reports from Carolina are that they want heavy compensation
