Don't know what happened between Quenneville, his good friend/assistant Mike Kitchen and Haviland. Don't know who is right or who is wrong or who stood where on what issues. But, the decision to remove Haviland - a coaching finalist in Winnipeg last season - and the explanation for it is proof that people did not trust each other.

Players notice stuff like this. It affects your team.

On Friedman's "30 Thoughts", #2 is interesting.

The funny thing is I'm thinking eventually Foley, Eddie O, Wideman and Murray will stop wanting to tow the company line with this bullshit.

Not as long as they are still getting those checks from the Blackhawks....

There were accusations of "spying."

well that's a truth right there. The article has some pretty insightful info if you read between the lines.

Was a wonderful day of quotes for me. PMX for something not meaning much there are some pretty bent out of shape people. And I mean ones that actually count unlike most of the fans.

I'm a little shocked even.

“These are facts,” Quenneville said. “Last year, our power play was fourth in the league. Penalty-killing was 25th. Kitch had the power play. This year, I wanted to make a change going into the season. At the beginning of the year, Havy was going to have the power play, and Kitch had the penalty kill.

“We made the change, and after 15 games, our power play was 30th in the league. So we went back; we flip-flopped. Kitch got the power play back, and Havy had the penalty kill. The numbers weren’t good, and that’s where it’s at. Then, all of a sudden, it’s almost like our whole team problem was Kitch. And it’s not about Kitch. It’s about us as a team making our power play all better collectively. This is not blaming Havy, either. This is just the way it is, and that’s part of the decision.”

This guy is certainly going out of his way to defend his designated driver.... even though nobody brought him up. Q is a total piece of shit. He says there's no blame, he's not blaming Havi, and then he completely throws him under the bus.

Brian Hedger ‏ @BrianHedger

Clarification of a RT from Q teleconference: He was asked about Kitchen once about whether he had to choose him or Haviland.

Brian Hedger ‏ @BrianHedger

Other than the Kitchen or Haviland choice question, tho, Q wasn't asked about Kitchen criticism and still ardently defended him w/o prompt

Adam Jahns ‏ @adamjahns

#Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville defended assistant Mike Kitchen throughout the presser despite no direct questions about him.

Seems like somebody is feeling really guilty.

I love the fact someone didn't like Kane playing Center....

I was told once Q doesn't take suggestions of "his team" lightly. Well lets see where Havi lands.

I remember being told by someone there was a huge shouting match between Dale and Mcdonough and that it could be heard down the Hallway. They could only hear bits and peices (ironically they too no longr work there) Another person that doesn't take suggestions, unless of course they benefit him.

Q is setting up his own camp because he knows he is working for a weasel GM and if he is going down, he is going down under his own terms. Give me what I want or give me my walking papers and I will go to Montreal.

Unfortunately, Haviland belonged to the wrong camp.

I'm fully aware of where he came from Acco. I kind of know him.

The only GOAL they have had is to make more money from us chumps buying tickets. The MESS in the front office right now is evidence.

The ONLY reason Havi was in Chicago is Colorado tried to hire him as their COACH after his last year in Rockford.

DIND DING DING DING DING................we have a WINNER

Nah. Havi just wound up having to be every faction's sacrificial lamb but for different reasons and to different ends IMO. Quite frankly, I think the Bowmans wanted Q gone but Q played his hand and obviously went above Stan and got higher support from Rocky and McD. But now he's entirely blown his proverbial load and now all Stan has to do is sit back and watch Q impale himself on a sword of his own nimwit making. Loathe or love Stan, he's more clever and methodical than Q by a wideass country mile.

Not surprised Havi got the axe over Kitchen. Kitchen and Q are buddies.

What pisses me off is Q makes the statement that "It's not the blame game" and " I take ownership for what happened this year" and then proceeds to fire Havi. You sold out Q. Yeah I get that it's business, but you sold out and got rid of a good coach who the players liked and was good and working with younger players and kept the guy who fucked the PP up and didn't add much value to that.

This is the worst part. Per Sun Times. Q:

At the end of the year, Stan, about a couple of days after the season ended, visited with me and we talked about a lot things about this season and our team," Quenneville said. "The one thing that we talked about was our coaching staff. In his eyes and the organization's eyes, how people viewed our coaching staff, I think he looked at it like there was some dysfunction to it.

The dysfunction was Kitchen. He's who everyone was ripping and was the one everyone was making out as the broken part. Don't bullshit us, we know exactly why you kept him around.

Good luck Havi!

That Stan has complete discretion?

No

oh sorry I didn't read clever and methodical as complete discretion. I think he's more clever and methodical than appears to be, and also dont think he has complete discretion up to reporting to the clown before he makes a decision relating to ANYTHING. Well, except taking a dump.

I think Stan has to call and ask if he can brush his teeth in the morning.......

As a GM I have always thought he was a puppet. Maybe he is clever, maybe he knows how to "play the game".

Nearly everything I have seen accomplished from my perspective leads me to believe he is a deer in headlights.

Yea I disagree with that. Far from a deer in headlights and very aware of what's going on and what he does.
