From Jaeckel:

I've heard from two sources in the last 36 hours or so that the possibility of Roberto Luongo becoming a Blackhawk not only remains, but might be growing.

Okay. So it's from Jack off, I mean Jaeckel. I can see Stan pandering to McDick to make a splash at any cost.

If it's Frolik, a perpertually concussed Montador, and a bag of dicks...maybe. But it's gotta be cap hit for cap hit. Did you see the owners initial offer? And does anyone in their right mind expect the owners to keep the cap for 2012-13 at 70.2 million?

Keep the potential ammnesty buy-outs like Frolik. A new wave of UFA's may be a comming with the next CBA.

Daze is still playing? Or did you mean Hasek...

Daze may be in a beer league some where I guess... haha. May I used to love him. I honestly, just because of the timing and my age, would put him up there as one of my all-time favorites. I know it sounds weird but I bet everyone has that player that is one of their favorites that other people would just not consider.

You are so weird. Why would you like a player like him? He was big and all, but to like a player just cause it was the right time and such? C'mon. No one would want that guy on their team, even in a beer league.

Wait, don't look below this....

OK, let's put it this way....

Forget Jaekel.

Have the Hawks regressed to a point where free agents don't see Chicago as a place they would like to play in?

Has Bowman tried to make deals only to find no one will dance with him or is he sitting on his hands?

In other words, has McPulford taken complete control over the team?

As much as I don't quite like the front office I have a hard time believing they have. Suter and Parise both wanted to play in Minny for personal reason.

Other than that what other "key" UFA's are there we didn't sign?

That's a good question- there wasn't much at all in the way of centers this year, but that hasn't stopped the FO from making a splash in the past.

I just don't understand them standing pat....

Article regarding the Balckhawks and plans at center on NHL.com this morning. Posted it in the FA frenzy thread. Don't expect much, sounds like they plan to stand as they are heading into the season, at least at center.

I have to agree with RK on this one. As much as we've wanted something to happen, not much has happened at all for anyone. Suter and Parise aside. I am not ready to say that Chicago is not an attractive option for players yet, and I'm not quite ready to say that Bowman isn't a good enough GM to make any of the deals necessary to better this club, because we honestly don't know what is out there and what is happening. People right now could be trying to fleece each other and he's at least being smart enough to not make bad deals. If I had to pick, I'd say based on personal assumption alone, that Bowman is just not getting the traction he needs in the market to put a real good deal together, but that would just be a Jackel type feeling. I'd like to see a lot of things, I've said a couple of times in this thread now that I'd like to see them at least seem more active by being mentioned more in possible trade rumors (real one, not make up hockeyfans.com stuff) but at the end of the day, I can't point to too many things that have happened this off-season that I'm thoroughly disappointed the Hawks weren't in on. Seemed Suter and Parise were destine to be in Minny.

Theres just not alot out there. I suppose they could have taken a shot at Meuller but it's risky as he has an injury history.

I don't see Doan as a splash, I see him as an improvement to the team in an area they need his skills. If they could sign him that is. The rumor $$ is just too much to risk on an aging player. If Hossa is healthy and Saad is here all year, and Sharp goes back to Center I suppose they still may add some grit but I don't know what I'd do.

Maybe go after Beriner but it's said LA is asking a ransom for him. I'd like Stan to do something but not just for the sake of doing it. Jeakal is so full of shit it's coming out his ears....

To steal Klem's own terminology, I would see Doan as a splash, but it would be a cannonball.

It's only a spash if they signed him for huge money, because then they did it for the splash. At least IMO. If they get him for a reasonable amount it's not a splash, but filling a direct need for this team. A clear physical PF, although not the LW they really need.

Well of course, but I don't see him being signed for a reasonable amount of money. Not with as slow as everything is right now. I will predict...... 17+ for three years.

That's under 6, so I'd be torn.
Honestly, I was torn, I typed several different numbers there but decided on that to be safe... I have a feeling it's going to be 6.5X3 But that would be disappointing to see GMs still be this dumb. I like the guy and thing he would be a great addition, I'd only give him 2 mil, and maybe 5-5.5 per if I absolutely have to, his last contract was at 4.55. so that's still a raise, but his age worries me and I don't want any old guys living out the end of their contracts off of what they once were, we have too many good young kids that need those roster spots.

Yea but you don't have any young kids that fill his shoes. Saad will probably make the team and there is your LW PF. THey could move Doan to the Left.

No. Maybe no this year, but if you give him a 3 or 4 year contract, may next year, and definitely in the 3rd year I feel there will be enough kids ready to give a shot but stuck behind the old man. I like him, I think he would be a great fit here for the right length and price, I'm just not sold on how much he has left. I think it would be a great opportunity to come in here and give everything he has for 2 years and not have to be the focus of the opposing teams defense. He did play a lot of extra hockey last year, I guess a good think of a possible lockout would be more time for him to recover.

Like who? I don't see any PF LW or RW other than Saad even remotely ready. This year or next. At least top 6.

3rd year out, who knows, thats three years from now. I suppose next years crop of UFA is fairly large but then again you are waiting another year. If it's the right deal I'd sign him.

if chicago isn't considered an attractive destination anymore, imagine how detroit must feel this offseason... i'm with you and think its overblown right now

Who knows, there are all sorts of guys with potential, and their position doesn't matter as long as Q is coach. .Anyone one of them can explode, I said maybe next year but I fully expect kids to be ready by year three which is why I said I would only do a 2 year.
