This is just my opinion and just food for thought, but I think it is shared by most educated fans. The thought: The Hawks haven't brought in a player I have been excited to see suit up in the Indianhead since Hossa in July 09'.

Possibly Carcillo, but other than that.......

It was understandable last year, this off-season the needs were clear and we had the money. Same goes for the entire season, Stan may be saying he made "all the calls", but why is this top notch organization, fresh off a championship, in the second biggest market being bested by division rivals such as Nashville. Especially when Nashville has TWELVE RFA and UFA's coming up this off-season.

I'm just dumbfounded we went and got another semi-puck moving defenseman, somewhat physical and decent logger of minutes guy. Not to mention since the D has been Keith-Olsen, Seabrook-Leddy it has been really fucking solid.

Nashville is in all-in mode. They need to show Weber and Suter that they are serious in contending and were willing to pay a premium for blocks that could help. And maybe the asking price from the Hawks were simply too high. Would you have traded Saad for Grossman? Odds are that the asking price for Gaustad was also simply too high. The Hawks are two years removed from winning the Cup and gutting that team, this might be a longer re-build/tooling than we might have initially thought. I'd rather take the long game and build a team that can be competitive for years instead of a one and done team. The upcoming CBA is also a factor in building a team and being cautious and seeing how things develop with that seems to be the smart thing to do.

It would have been fine if Q used him as a 4th line forward, instead of a #6 defensemen.

Ding ding ding. He was terrible on defensive because of his skating. I know he did off-season work but he was just better off as a 4th line guy. You have 4 lines and 3 pairs of D. the forwards can spare a guy for 5 better than the D can.

I'm wondering what Bolland ever did to Quenville.

and Montedor got a fucking NTC. Does Stan hand these out like Candy?? I remember saying that because of Dale, not a single Hawks player had a NTC.

NTCs are stupid to me. Because I feel that they are just bad for both parties. If the player is asked to waive his NTC, I just don't see him putting everything he has into next game, why bust ass for a team that doesn't want you.

There is a power struggle going on. Not sure how transparent it is but I eluded to it the other day to several people. It starts at the very top and trickles down. Not all is bliss in this organization.

I assume this would be the rumored Rocky/McD conflict with GM/Advisor/coaching/players as blogged by Jackass citing a reliable source by name.

I don't know did jackass do a write up on it. I know I saw the 300 level grab it from some where yesterday, although it wasn't me. I didn't say much about it but something was said a week or so ago to me.

Rocky should fire McD and get some hockey people to run the franchise, not some smarmy marketing snakes. McD did what was needed, got asses back to the seats, now they need hockey savvy people to keep the team a winner to keep those asses in the seats. A winning team is a big seller, not the dumb sideshows and bobblehead nights.

That has a smaller chance than Ron Paul winning the white house.

Hey those smarmy snakes brought the convention, Winter Classic and maybe an upcoming All Star Game...... and then the snake becomes the head of the NHL. You can bet your ass that is his plan.

If that happens, I'll watch the NBA or WWE.

As much as we hate on McDonough he'd be good for the front office of the NHL. Make him VP of Marketing. Say whatever you want about him the guy seems good at marketing (a 8 year old could have marketed the hawks so far but I guess he did good with the cubbies)

He is good at marketing, I give credit for that but his ego makes him want to do more then just that. It is why you have to be concerned with him in any position of power because it will be abused.
