So the Hawks went into the trade deadline at the contract limit, unable to add any players without moving players currently under contract? Is that what you're trying to tell me? I know this team's management becomes more clown shoes by the minute, but I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe. They couldn't possibly be that inept, could they?

I'm not upset Scott was traded, I'm upset he did nothing to fill the holes that would have possibly given this a team a chance at the Cup. I think the team has the talent right now, but the glaring holes at D and C could have been addressed. Theres no telling what happens when the playoffs come with guys like we have on our team. That said he showed ZERO faith in them and did nothing to give them encouragement.

Instead to me the message he sent was "you aren't a Cup Contender and we aren't doing anything".

Good message to send Stan boy.

you don't think drastically overpaying for an overrated "offensive" defensemen who is a UFA next year isn't saying that he thinks we can make a run?

Offensive is in quotes because He hasn't had a decent offensive year since he played for the Devils

Flyers are/were as well. Several teams are at the contract max. That's what happens when you have a boat load of young players.

You really have to ask that last question? Really?

And to defend them some they had to sign Hutton last week. Kid has been lights out.

RK.... in your opinion... how much does the Scott trade affect locker room moral?

That's where they lose with Scott. One of the character guys in the locker room. Probably unmatched by any other player with Carcillo done for the year.

When we won the Cup you had guys like Versteeg, Burrish, Buff.... All locker room guys. Fortunately for Scott he didn't add what those guys add on the ice. But yea I think it will effect the lockerroom. how much, I'm not in there and have no clue.

I can't believe that. I just can't believe they are THAT stupid. Also, the Hawks' website doesn't have Makarov on there, and I know he has an NHL contract. He is listed on Capgeek but not on the Hawk's website. Then you have McLean and Carlsson that are on the Hawk's website but not on Capgeek. Has to be something we're missing here.

If this is true, the Hawks were at the contract limit prior to the TDL, and couldn't make any moves without shedding a contract. That would be fucking pathetic.

P.S. Philly got to the contract limit prior to the TDL by actually making trades to get there.

I'm pretty sure they were at the Max contracts. Don't shoot me if I'm wrong but counting all those put them there. And explain why no one was/has been waived and Scott was dealt.

From my assumptions of this trade:

- We have clowns on the ice.

- We have elephants on the bench.

- We have monkeys running the front office.

It's as if the circus never left!

While not in total agreement I have to say I laughed my arse off!

Beautiful

Well he's a point per game in the AHL. I'd take him over Frolik any day.

And yea Vermette has two more years. Big deal. It's not like we dont have a huge gaping hole at C.

When Olesz was sent down and cap space became available, most believed that a play would be made to really bolster the roster. Bowman indicated as much. That was a ruse.

Between Huet and Olesz, that amounts to 9 million in salary. When taking into account salary versus cap hit, between Keith, Hossa, Frolik, Seabrook, and Montador the Hawks are paying out about 8.7 more than the cap hit. That comes out to $17.7 million.

I'm not a big Bowman fan. There's serious doubt as to his ability to build a 23 player roster. But perhaps his hands were tied when it came to making significant moves.

I said that at the beginning of the year and somewhere in this thread. And have mentioned it many times. Huet and Olesz were accounted for with the Cap underage. No doubt about it. And Rocky was not willing to add more salary. That's quite obvious. There is a rift somewhere in the front office. Assumption, some what, but not totally. I have "sources" but it's not my place, nor would I write a blog about it to be the "in" person. Not all is happy. Which, in a whole scenario, knowing Mcdonough, not totally bad. But for the team, bad as they got them Zero help.

I am not really bothered by Stan's inaction this TDL, there wasn't much on offer and what was on offer was at a premium. And I'd rather not empty the cupboards to get a rental or two that could perhaps help the Hawks get to the second round instead of just the first round. It's simply not worth it. Obviously this team needs a larger re-structuring than a TDL can provide. I do hope Stan will be aggressive on the draft and when free agency starts. A #2 center is a must along with a solid D-man with some skills.
