They don't need Babcock, they just need a guy that stresses the importance of basics and sound positioning. Does Detroit really have a complex system or do anything really innovative? No, they stick to fundamentals, play sound positioning, and stress a team game in all three zones. You don't see any heroes on Detroit trying to skate through four players. Everything is done with a minimum of three players involved. They are bringing the puck up ice from behind their net, and they have at minimum two other guys STILL IN THE DEFENSIVE ZONE for the breakout. They are regrouping in the neutral zone, and they ALWAYS have a forward circling back to help and present a passing option. They are in the offensive zone, and they ALWAYS have a forward up high. None of this three forwards low shit we see from the Hawks constantly. They play strong, FUNDAMENTAL hockey. Shit I was taught in peewees. Obviously there is more to it than that, but he mostly just stresses repetition, fundamentals, and working as a team at all times. It's almost like Q is over complicating the **** out of things. Maybe he's just not very good at getting players to understand what he's trying to do?
