And rightly so. Because he still needs to be GONE. The mini-win streak was nice, kept them afloat a bit but IMO was really the players hitting rock bottom in terms of pride once they realized from the press that the general tenor of the the fandom as well as some media were starting to blame coaching for a large chunk of their problems (along with the personnel holes of course!). What group of dudes wants to concede that their coach really is ineffective and that they kind of don't give a shit what he says and so their play and lack of morale leads to him being sacked? There was really no where for them to go but back up at least for a bit. Will likely happen again and just be a cycle. Between my feelings that the Q/Kitch Bromance of Clusterfuckery drags them down, plus the legitimate holes and deficiencies to their roster, and NOW the recent spate of injuries with Montador being out maybe the rest of the season, Hjalmarsson, Toews, Sharp still needing wrist surgery once the season is over I just feel it's all too, too much to overcome in terms of being able to realistically deliver the team game play for consistent winning/win streaks. Eh, we'll see what happens and where we are at Game 82 but I have a big ole "it is what it is" resignation feeling about the whole thing.

Oy vey. . .this season.

My thoughts exactly. Great post.

If Q gets wacked, do you have enough faith in Junior picking a solid replacement? Any suggestions on a coach?

Just in time for the home stretch!

Well since I can't really get my Numero Uno choice of Byslma or then Babcock then I for one am someone who has always advocated for Havi getting his shot. "Tomorrow's" NHL HCs can only come into being by being given their shots by GMs. Havi has achieved success at ALL coaching levels/opportunities to-date, he's not a Q crony so I don't really think he's picked up any of his philosophies or lazyass non-coaching stylings as exhibited when Q was out for a handful of games last year during the Roster Purge season.

"Keith is our PP quarterback...."

--Lovie Quennville

Actually I think that's kind of an insult to Lovie. I am no Lovie fangirl by any means---just think he's beyond his natural expiration date here. His main deficiency which drives me FUCKING INSANE is that he's a likely an excellent practice and prep coach but he is an ATROCIOUS in-game coach! Like Q he's viewed as a "player's coach" but unlike Q IMO, Lovie has never really lost his bench---his players routinely admit to being able to get motivated by him and admit to playing hard for him. Sure there have been some team cancers that needed excising over his years but I wouldn't put those players bad attitudes and efforts solely on him. I don't think Q is a good practice/prep OR in-game coach. Lovie, loathe him or love him has taken some pretty uneven (really one could say untalented beyond the D) rosters from Angelo and squeezed a lot of actual franchise success out of them during his tenure which tells me that at a minimum he knows how to work with what he's got and get the most out of it for the most part. Q? Not so much.

ETA: I also wouldn't say that I see players and especially stars regress under Lovie either. They may get injured sure, they may not use them correctly, and some just don't pan out because Angelo was a weak drafter but no, I wouldn't say players start out with a lot of visible talent and then it just "Poof!" seems to disappear if they're not injured.

Lovie is the coach of the Bears. Way back when Rex Grossman was QB for the Bears and sucking hard, Lovie was asked constantly about Rex's play and if he was going to start, and his comment was always "Rex is our Quarterback".

ahhhh okay, sorry. Not a big football guy, and my name has nothing to do with Grossman.

Don't feel bad, I didn't realize Lovie's last name was Quennville. I thought it was Quenneville.

Outstanding hockey right there. I mean, we are cup bound for sure with those numbers.
