Don't know if it's been mentioned here, but I read in an article where Turco has been working with Crawford on the side to help with his puck handling so that no matter who is in net the breakouts will be seamless from night to night. Pretty cool to hear.
Fantastic... hockey is here. Can't wait to get over and see some of TC.

Glad the Team is back at it.

For anyone interested here are the 2010 Training Camp Scrimmage Composite Stats through Monday's scrimmages---Bickell's tearin' it up people! I guess check back every day for updated stats?

. . .from Blackhawks.com

http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=64543

Finally! Some new video of camp! Makarov speaks!

But a caveat, you *will* have to deal with that MASSIVE tool Chris Boden but it's worth it so see even a couple of minutes of footage from Johnny's West today. . .

. . .from CSNChicago.com

VIDEO: http://www.csnchicago.com/pages/video?PID=qUj7jAwjSM5aFnqUK9EYxThY5QcEWHif

A few brief write-ups from various sources after today's camp. Makarov press bandwagoning, giving Bickell his deserved props too, some Crawford props, a little Hossa, a little Skille. . .

Hawks Trim Roster to 48.

Assign

The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forwards Rob Flick, Byron Froese, Mirko Hoefflin and Phillipe Paradis, and goaltender Kent Simpson to their junior clubs. In addition, the Blackhawks have assigned goaltender Joe Palmer to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs and released forward Steele Boomer and defenseman Dallas Jackson.

The Blackhawks’ training camp roster now stands at 48 active players, which includes 28 forwards, 16 defensemen and four goaltenders

Went today and almost no one was there (in the stands). Great to see the Team!

Turco looks like he's having fun with the team. Reminds me of how Madden was with them last year.

The prospect of a full season of healthy Hossa and healthy Bolland is a beautiful thing. Knock. On. Wood.

Keith looked even faster. Kane's shot looked stronger. Whether he will actually be there or not, it sure seems like Morin can play in the NHL now. Makarov (in the black sweater with Skille & Dowell only) was always skating with someone, talking to them, seems very focused on getting to know the team, asking questions, whatever it was. I was in full kool-aid mode. So much fun to watch them all again!

Just got around to reading Sassone's stuff from yesterday and saw this interesting little tidbit:

Captain Toews impressed by rookie winger Morin

By Tim Sassone | Daily Herald Staff

Only time will tell if there's a spot on the Blackhawks' roster for 19-year-old rookie winger Jeremy Morin.

But the fact that Morin had a stall in the main dressing room at practice Thursday might indicate he has a better chance than some others, even though he is fresh out of junior hockey.

Morin, forwards Igor Makarov and Kyle Beach and defenseman Nick Leddy have been those rookies front and center so far at training camp, but only Morin and Makarov found their equipment in the main room and practiced with the veterans.

Morin's still junior eligible, correct? Which means he could be seeing a 10-game stint with the club before the brass make a call.

Morin was drafted out of the USA hockey program. The Jr. Rules do not apply to him. It's Chicago or Rockford from my understanding. The Jr. Club was not happy.

I can't remember where I read it though.

The CHL determined last week that Morin's AHL-eligible but my understanding was that it doesn't preclude him from deciding to go and play for Kitchener in the OHL (which we know ain't gonna happen, heh). When they gave their pseudo-ruling last week I should have updated that Morin thread in the Ice Hogs/Prospects forum but better late than never I guess:

Personally I think he'll choose the AHL. Not sure Jr's will do anything more for him at this point.

By the looks of it he's walking his way on the Hawks right now.

Per Adam Jahn's twitter feed, another newbie sent back to his club.

#Blackhawks assigned forward David Gilbert to his junior club, Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Gilbert had a great TOR rookie tournament and training camp for himself so good on the kid. He hustled out there and made noticeable strides to get himself on the Hawks radar for the future so I am sure he'd say he made huge improvements this offseason.

Seems like I've barely heard Lalonde's name since training camp started. Anyone have a report on him and how he's been doing?

I was wondering that too Frank, but Leddy is ahead of him as far as development so that's probably why.

I think he's playing tonight.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Also, SO FAR Vishnevskiy isn't making the type of impact I was hoping for either---which admittedly is a bit more difficult and subtle for D-men than forwards---considering how much more time he's spent playing in the pros than some of the competition. Wait and see I guess.

knowing there aren't many spots on D available I'm guess you'd really have to stand out to be noticed. Hard to be noticed in Camp when you have Seabrook/Keith, Campbell/Hjarlmarsson and Hendry, who looked pretty good the other night IMO. Just not much available. Knowing Scott will probably get #7 no matter what.

Now granted it was only 1 pre-season game and maybe TV is to blame, but am I the only one not "getting" the whole Leddy thing? He looked small, outmuscled and indecisive to me.

Like I'm said, I'm not putting too much stock in one outting but it seems like Bowman and Q are tripping over their dicks with praise for this guy.

I'm going off off camp. Leddy has been more noticable than Lalonde.

His play with the puck is ahead of his play without it. I thought his passing the other night was excellent. However, without the puck in his own end he seems a little lost.

The Hawks were killing a penalty and Leddy was way too close to the forward along the half wall. The puck easily found the Tampa player down low for a great chance and Leddy could not get back into position. He struggles with play in the corners. But in fairness to Leddy, he was playing high school hockey less than two years ago.
