I think its time Wrigley got a complete renovation but without tearing the whole park down. My dad had the idea of maybe they'll eventually build a newer Wrigley Field and the Cubs would probably have to play at Comiskey Park II until the renovations are complete. Not sure if that would work but hey never know til it happens

I have always said that since they just redid the bleachers, tear down everything from foul pole to foul pole and start from scratch.

Lookee lookee here...

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/arti...-to-move-brick-wall-behind-wrigley-home-plate

The proposal states that the "masonry, joint widths, mortar color and profiles" of the new wall will match the existing wall, with one 11-foot-wide section being reconfigured into a "movable" piece, though that will also match the rest of the wall.
The Cubs had no comment on the proposal, citing the pending committee approval.
On one hand, the plan is a plus for batters, as there would be less foul territory.
On the other, the backstop would be three feet closer for wild pitches and passed balls.
Neither ought to make much of a difference, but it marks yet another potential tweak to the Wrigley framework.

For 56 new seats. Hope they're cushy.

Approved!

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks permit review committee voted 5-1 today in favor of the Cubs’ plan to move the brick wall behind home plate forward three feet to create 56 new seats. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, the team also received permission to reconfigure a nearly 12-foot long section of the wall along the third base line so it would become movable. By doing so, Wrigley Field could be better fitted for college football games. In November 2010, Illinois and Northwestern played at Wrigley, and were forced to use only one end zone because the NCAA determined there wasn’t a safe distance between the back end of the east end zone and the brick outfield wall. Michael Lufrano, vice president of community affairs and general counsel for the Cubs, said alterations to the wall will be done in the offseason.

Goodness that was a horrible article.

Instead of spitting out dumb "fan" facts about the Cubs 2012 season, why doesn't he tell us why he thinks Wrigley sucks?

god forbid someone says something bad about the cubs fans.

I just watched the video and while I'm sure all fan bases have their black sheep it's no wonder Cubs fans get made fun of :obama:

ESPN:

The Chicago Cubs have received permission to add seats at Wrigley Field.

Just days after the Cubs completed one of the worst seasons in team history, the Commission on Chicago Landmarks gave the team permission Thursday to add more seats.

The commission said Cubs officials can move a brick wall at Wrigley Field three feet closer to home plate so 56 more seats can be installed.

By shrinking foul territory by three feet, fans will have a better chance of catching foul balls behind the plate.

The approval means the team will move the wall behind the plate at the 98-year-old ballpark for the second time in recent years. Seven years ago three rows of seats were installed, a move that trimmed foul territory by 10 feet.

Random Bruce Levine chat nugget:

Mike (Hoffman Estates)

When are the cubs getting their own channel, with other teams getting big bucks from tv don't you think its time they jump in? Also any word on the Wrigley renovations?

Bruce Levine (1:24 PM)

Have not heard anything about major Wrigley renovations, due to the fact that the mayor is still upset about the Ricketts family's involvement in the presidential race. The Cubs' first opportunity to get their own channel will be 2014 when they can opt out of their WGN contract. Their own cable station is a possibility, as well as another big TV corporation coming in and making a bid.

Nothing really new there. WGN can only screw the Cubs over on TV rights for a couple more years and then the Cubs ought to be able to get some huge new revenue strings.

? will be will Ricketts spend it on the team or put it in there pockets. Next year Cubs will be getting 60 mil + from national TV Revnues. Looks of payroll will be around 80 mil. So Ricketts only paying around 20 mil of his payroll. TV Revenue paying for 80% of Cubs payroll
